Jan attended Evangel College and there met Paul F. Crouch. After marrying, they then had the idea of starting their own television network.
Sixteen years after marrying and starting a family, the couple founded Trinity Broadcasting Network in 1974. They purchased KLXA-TV and then became part of the cable system four years later. Eventually, the network would feature more and more Christian programming, growing to become the largest Christian television network in the United States. The channel transitioned to 24-hour programming that was commercial free, and would work their way to becoming the third largest over the air stations in the US. TBN then expanded to own and operate five other independent television networks that each cater to various demographics. Some of these networks include The Church Channel, TBN Enlace, and JUCE TV. As part of TBN, Jan became the vice president and director of network programming. She also handled several shows including “Praise the Lord”, “The Glory of America’, and “First to Know”. Additionally she was the programming director for the affiliated networks such as TBN Enlace USA and JUCE TV.
Crouch received numerous awards, which included an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the Oral Roberts University, a Golden Angel Award for Excellence in Media, and the Parents Television Council Entertainment Seal of Approval twice.
For her personal life, Jan married Paul Crouch in 1957 and they stayed together until his death in 2013. They had two children who would grow up and become a part of TBN. In 2012, Crouch had a bit of controversy as she was accused by her granddaughter of misappropriating funds from the network for unnecessary personal use. Costs that were revealed included private jets, custom wigs, and expensive houses. It was also reported that she rented two hotel rooms for herself and two dogs while creating the Holy Land Experience theme park. In 2016, Jan suffered a stroke that sent her to hospital and she would pass away six days later on 31 May 2016.
