Jake Lloyd started his acting career in 1996, by playing the role of Jimmy Sweet in “ER”, a medical television series. In the same year, after his appearance in four episodes of the series, the young actor played Jake Warren in “Unhook the Stars”, a drama film. He became known after his role in “Jingle All The Way”, a Christmas comedy, in which Jack played Jamie Langston, the 9-year-old son of Howard Langston (Arnold Schwarzenegger). Jake Lloyd also appeared in the film “Apollo 11”, in the role of Mark Armstrong, and in “The Pretender”, where he played young Angelo.
In 1999, Jake Lloyd was chosen to play young Anakin Skywalker, in the film “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace”, which was the first film of the series “Star Wars”. After this role, Jake appeared in five related video games and made another film, “Madison”, shot in 2000, but released only in 2005. 2 years after “The Phantom Menace”, in 2001, Jake decided to quit his career. Jake eventually graduated from Carmel High School in Indiana, and then went to Columbia College Chicago. The actor wanted to study film and psychology, but he quit after the first semester.
He continued though to go to sci-fi festivals. As a filmmaker, Jake Lloyd made a promo for “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones”. In the same period, in 2012, Entertainment Weekly magazine wrote that Jake was directing a documentary about Tibet and the refugees running from the Chinese, to India.
In 2015, Jake comes back in the spotlight, after he was arrested for driving without a license, reckless driving, and resisting arrest. His mother excused the episode by blaming schizophrenia and the fact that the actor hadn’t taken his medication a day before. She also mentioned her son attacking her the night before the incident for similar reasons. His mother declared for Daily Mail that when he was 19, Jake Lloyd started showing signs of schizophrenia, but he was normally fine, as he was treating his condition. Jake Lloyd tried unsuccessfully to go by the name of Jake Broadbent during this episode, in order to keep the media away.
