Jack Abramoff Net Worth -$44 Million

Jack Abramoff was born into a Jewish family, a son of Jane and Franklin Abramoff, franchises unit of Diners Club credit-card company president. His family moved to Los Angeles when he was ten, and he went to Beverly Hills High School, where he played football and was a weight-lifting champion. While studying at Brandeis University, Abramoff served as Chairman of the Massachusetts Alliance of College Republicans, involved in gathering volunteers from the student body to support Ronald Reagan‘s 1980 presidential campaign. After spending six years at college, Jack graduated with a BA in English in 1981, and later earned his Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1986.

In 1983, Abramoff became the College Republican National Chairman, and two years later joined Citizens for America, helping Oliver North in support of the Nicaraguan Contras, while in 1986 President Reagan appointed Abramoff as a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.

However, Jack spent the next ten years in Hollywood, and wrote and produced the movie entitled “Red Scorpion” (1988) starring Dolph Lundgren, an unsuccessful endeavor earning $5 million on a budget of $16 million. Still, he produced its sequel in 1994, but it also failed commercially.

From 1994 to 2001 Abramoff worked as a lobbyist at Preston Gates Ellis & Rouvelas Meeds LLP in Seattle, Washington, on notable projects including representing Native American tribes with gambling interests, while he also worked with Saipan and Northern Mariana Islands, with a Russian energy company called Naftasib, and with eLottery, Inc.

In January 2001, Jack joined the law firm Greenberg Traurig, where he lobbied for Native American tribes, Tyco International Ltd., the governments of Malaysia and Sudan, Channel One News, and for the Israeli telecommunications firm. In late 2004, the Senate Indian Affairs Committee started investigating Abramoff’s lobbying, but he pleaded the Fifth Amendment. However, in March 2006, Jack and Adam Kidan were sentenced to 70 months in prison and required to pay US$21.7 million in restitution. He served his sentence in a minimum security prison camp in Maryland, and after serving four years was released in June 2010 into a halfway house until the end of his sentence, working at the kosher pizzeria Tov Pizza, earning from $7.50 to $10.00 per hour. He continues to assist authorities in further corruption investigations.

In November 2011, he published a memoir entitled “Capitol Punishment: The Hard Truth About Washington Corruption From America’s Most Notorious Lobbyist”, detailing the story of his life in Washington as a lobbyist.

Regarding his personal life, Jack Abramoff married a co-manager and executive assistant at Capital Athletic Foundation, Pamela Clarke in 1986, and has five children with her.
