George’s mother is a costume designer, while his father works in lighting and stage management, so perhaps unsurprisingly, at the age of five, George had already created his own version of “Peter and the Wolf”, which he produced and directed; his friends played the other characters while he played the lead role. In 2002, he was discovered by an acting scout while he was attending The Harrodian School. The following year, he auditioned for the planned 2003 film adaptation of “Peter Pan”, in which he became one of the Lost Boys, which would open up more opportunities for him to increase his net worth. His next role would come in “The Thief Lord”, in which he would play the role of Riccia; the film is based on the children’s novel of the same name. Afterwards, he played the lead role in the three-part television series entitled “Johnny and the Bomb”, based on the novel of the same name.

MacKay continued to work on television, having roles in projects such as “The Brief” and “Rose and Maloney”. In 2008, he became a part of the film “Defiance”, playing the youngest brother Aron, and the following year appeared in “The Boys Are Back” alongside Clive Owen, before getting cast in the musical film entitled “Hunky Dory”, directed by Marc Evans. MacKay had more projects in 2012, including “Private Peaceful” and “The Best of Men”, and in 2013 worked alongside Saoirse Ronan in “How I Live Now”, before starring in another musical entitled “Sunshine on Leith”. The following year he appeared in the film “Pride”, which is based on a true story, playing the role of Joe who struggles to come out in a homophobic British society.

In 2015, George then appeared in the play “Ah, Wilderness!” which ran for more than a month, and received great reviews from critics. His next project would be the two part television series entitled “The Outcast”, before he joined the cast of “11.22.63”, then in 2016, he had another stage project, in “The Caretaker”. One of his latest projects is “Captain Fantastic” which also stars Viggo Mortensen. All of these projects have increased his net worth.

For his personal life, nothing is known about any of Mackay’s romantic relationships. He still resides in London.
