Ed Robertson Net Worth $8 Million
Born in Scarborough, Ontario, Robertson came from a big family, him being the youngest of five children. His father, Earl Robertson was a shipping foreman for Honeywell as well as an egg grader. His mother, Wilma, on the other hand worked as a secretary for Imperial Oil. During his younger years, Robertson got into Churchill Heights Public School under the school’s gifted program, where he met Steven Page, who he would later co-found Barenaked Ladies with him. Before that, however, he went to work at a Wendy’s fast food outlet, and at a CAA Office.
In high school, Robertson and Page both attended Woburn Collegiate Institute. It was during their high school years that they formed Barenaked Ladies. Even though he was able to get in to York University, he decided to leave after half a year to focus on the band. Along the way, the duo met Andy and Jim Creeggan and Tyler Stewart, and they officially formed the band.
Barenaked Ladies broke into the scene with their self-titled cassette released in 1990; despite being an independent release, the cassette went on to become certified gold in Canada. The popularity of their cassette catapulted them to popularity and also helped their net worth.
Robertson and the band subsequently released a total of 15 albums, and most of them became chart-toppers, and sold more than 15 million copies worldwide. Some of their best singles include “It’s All Been Done”, “One Week”, “Lovers in a Dangerous Time”, “If I Had $1000000”, “Alternative Girlfriend”, “Shoe Box:, “Alcohol”, “Pinch Me”, “Another Postcard”, “Too Little Too Late” and so many more. The success of the band certainly helped Ed’s career, and also raised his net worth considerably.
Aside from being a prominent member of Barenaked Ladies, Robertson also worked with various artists and was involved in plenty of side projects. Some of the artists he was able to work with included The Waltons, John Berry, Andy Kim, and Hanson. He also worked as a model for designer Harry Rosen, and appeared in movies including “Charlie’s Angels 2: Full Throttle” and “Love, Sex, and Eating the Bones”.
In 2006, Robertson scored his own reality TV show “Ed’s Up”, and other shows that he appeared in have included “Daily Planet” on the Discovery Channel, and “Degrassi: The Next Generation”. His various side projects also helped with his net worth.
Today, Robertson is still active in the music industry. His most recent project is the release of Barenaked Ladies’ latest album “Ladies and Gentlemen: Barenaked Ladies and The Persuasion”.
In terms of his personal life, Robertson married his long-time girlfriend, Natalie Herbert in 1994. The couple has three children, and the family lives in Toronto.
