Andrew ‘Drew’ Houston was born on 4 March 1983, in Acton, Massachusetts USA. He is most often recognised as the co-founder and CEO of the internet messaging service Dropbox.

So just how rich is Drew Houston? Authoritative sources estimate that Drew is one of the younger billionaires, with a current net worth of over $1.4 billion as of late 2015, largely accumulated from his creation and continuing involvement with Dropbox.

Drew Houston Net Worth $1.4 Billion

He attended Acton-Boxborough Regional High School, before graduating with a degree in computer science and electrical engineering from the highly regarded MIT – Massachusetts Institute Technology – in 2004. Arash Ferdowsi was a fellow student, with whom he subsequently created Dropbox. Houston then went to work for several small, start-up IT companies, including Accolade – an on-line SAT prep company founded while he was still at MIT – Hubspot and Bit9, all of which obviously served as very useful education and training in the IT and business worlds. No doubt these jobs also provided a basis for his net worth.

Drew Houston apparently developed the idea for Dropbox for his own use, because he was forever forgetting or losing his USB flash drive when he was studying, and the alternatives just weren’t very helpful. He believed that the result would benefit others too, and he was fortunate to obtain funding from Y Combinator, then a relatively new company specifically set-up for the purpose of supporting needy start-up companies with potential which obviously agreed; in fact Dropbox is now recognised as one of the best investments the company has made, especially since Houston’s venture is rated one of the top start-ups from Silicon Valley. Since Dropbox’s launch, Drew Houston’s wealth have grown exponentially in just eight years, which adequately confirms the success of the company.

Recently Dropbox has also collaborated with entities as large as Microsoft and others. giving clients of both companies the ability to transfer, sync and edit documents.

Additionally, Houston’s latest program ‘Dropbox for Business’ has proven a rapidly developing arm of the company, such that offices have been opened in several companies around the world, as the number of clients has quickly climbed into the hundreds of thousands. Overall the company’s clientele is now ell over the four million mark, and certainly still climbing. The company is already valued at over $10 billion, with over $300 million in yearly revenue, and so one can expect Houston’s net worth to increase at a similar rate to the company’s expansion.

Plaudits for Drew Houston have come from various reputable sources, including being named by Business Week as one of the business-people with most potential aged 30 and under, and by Inc.com naming Drew in the top 30 under-30 entrepreneurs. He was also invited back to his alma mater, MIT in 2013 to deliver the commencement address.

In his personal life, little is known of his private affairs, but Drew is believed to be still single.
