The Irish actor, Colin Farrell was born on the 31st of May 1976, in Baldoyle, Dublin, Ireland, to Rita (nee Monaghan) and Eamon Farrell who owned a food health shop. Colin is perhaps best known for appearances in “Miami Vice” and more recently in “Saving Mr. Banks”. His career began in 1997.

So just how rich is Colin Farrell? As per the latest estimates from sources, Farrell’s net worth is now over $30 million, accumulated over his 18-year career in acting.

Colin’s siblings include an openly gay brother, Eamon Jr and two sisters, Catherine and the older of the two Claudine who works as his personal assistant. He was educated at Castleknock College and then Gormanston College in County Meath. When still in college, Farrell failed an audition for the local musical group, Boyzone, so, moved by the film “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial”, Farrell decided to try and pursue an acting career.

Backed by his brother, Colin enrolled himself in the Gaiety School of Acting, from where he landed his first role as Danny Byrne in the BBC television series entitled “Ballykissangel” in 1998. In 1999 he appeared in the TV movie “Falling for a Dancer”, just before his movie debut in “The War Zone”, a child abuse drama directed by the English actor, Tim Roth. These appearances provided a good start to his net worth.

Then in 2000, Colin Farrell was cast in his first main lead in an under-released film, “Tigerland”, which earned $139,500 and was directed by Joel Schumacher. His next releases, “Phone Booth”, “The Recruit” and “S.W.A.T.” were critically acclaimed and successful commercially, so Farrell was then cast with Tom Cruise in the film “Minority Report” in 2002, and in “Daredevil” (2003) as the villain, Bullseye. Farrell subsequently starred as a criminal in the highest earning Irish independent classic, “Intermission”, before switching to historical epics with his second venture being the Oscar nominated “The New World”. 2006 saw him in the action comedy drama, “Miami Vice”, opposite Jamie Foxx which was ranked among the top 50 movies in 10 years. He bagged a Golden Globe for best actor for his performance in “In Bruges” in 2008 – naturally his net worth was significantly boosted by these successes.

In 2011, Colin appeared in the comedy “Horrible Bosses”, and in “Total Recall” in 2012, and his film, “Seven Psychopaths” premiered in the Toronto film festival the same year. His net worth was continuing to rise.

In 2003, Colin Farrell was positioned 98 in the annual  list of 100 most powerful people. as according to Company magazine, he was the sixth sexiest man in the world in 2003, and People’s magazine cited him as one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world the same year.

Aside form acting, in his personal life, Farrell was involved with the English actress, Amelia Warner and in July 2001 were rumoured to be married. In ‘Your Voice in my head’ written by the British American Authoress, Emma Forrest, she discusses her one year relationship with Colin Farrell. The duo had planned a child shortly before they broke up.

Colin Farrell has two sons – James Padraig (2003) with model Kim Bordenave and who suffers from a rare genetic disorder, Angelman syndrome, and Henry Tadeusz (2009) with co-star Alicja Bachleda-Curus. He has also been linked with a number of other stars, including singer Britney Spears,  Playboy cover girl Nicole Narain, model Josie Maran and actresses Demi Moore,  Angelina Jolie, and  Maeve Quinlan.

Farrell was diagnosed with chronic insomnia at the age of 12. He defends the anti-bullying campaign of the Irish LGBT youth, Stand Up! He is also the face of Football World cup for the homeless.
