French-American businessman and nightclub owner Benjamin Antoine Maisani was born in Corsica, France on 27 January 1973, meaning that Aquarius is his zodiac sign. Benjamin was raised in Corsica by his father who was running a business there, and mother who was a housewife; not a lot else has been shared about Benjamin’s parents, as he respects their privacy. Benjamin was raised in New York City by his father Wyatt Emory Cooper, the late American author and actor, and mother Gloria Laura Vanderbilt, the late American actress, fashion designer and heiress; Benjamin has two older half-brothers Christopher Stokowski and Leopold Stanislaus ‘Stan’ Stokowski from his mother’s former marriage to Leopold Anthony Stokowski, the late British conductor. Benjamin’s maternal grandparents were Reginald Claypoole Vanderbilt, an American millionaire equestrian, and American socialite Gloria Morgan Vanderbilt. He joined CNN in 2001, and began co-anchoring the show “American Morning” together with Paula Zahn, and it was on 8 September 2003 that he began anchoring his own show “Anderson Cooper 360°”. The year 2005 saw him cover many important events, such as the Cedar Revolution in Lebanon, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ royal wedding, and the tsunami in Sri Lanka.

Anderson signed a new contract with CNN in January 2007, and his salary was doubled from $2 to $4 million a year.

He hosted the documentary show “Planet in Peril” in October 2007, and from 12 September 2011 through 30 May 2013, Anderson hosted the show “Anderson Live”. He moderated the presidential election debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in 2016, and the following year saw him co-host CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage; Benjamin’s since covered every New Year’s Eve for CNN.
