Bart Scott Net Worth $5 Million

Bart started playing football at Southeastern High School where he played as both a linebacker and running back. He led the team in rushing and had 76 tackles during his senior year. Colleges were however hesitant of giving him a scholarship due to his low SAT scores. He improved his academics, and then after a good field performance was given a scholarship by Southern Illinois University, where he played safety and linebacker for the Southern Illinois Salukis football team. Scott had an altercation during his junior year which led to suspension, but he eventually moved past it and was called a leader by head coach Jerry Kill. He went on to earn first-team honors during his senior year. Despite efforts from his coach, only the Baltimore Ravens sent a scout to check Scott, and he would enter the 2002 NFL Draft unnoticed. He was then signed by the Ravens as an undrafted free agent.

During his first three years with the Ravens, he became a part of the specials team, though saw little playing time. His first game was against the Carolina Panthers and he would then start to improve his skills, getting 19 special teams tackles. In 2005, he got his opportunity for more playing time as Ray Lewis suffered an injury. He finished the season with four sacks, 119 tackles and four passes defended. He was then given a $13.5 million, three-year contract extension which significantly boosted his net worth.

He produced even better performances in 2006, and was given the chance to play in the Pro Bowl. In 2009 he became a free agent, and the New York Jets and the Ravens wanted to sign him. He was given a $48 million six-year contract by the Jets and finished his first year in the team with 92 tackles. He continued to play, but had issues and controversy during his final years, clashing with media men and fans. Bart’s actions eventually led to his release in 2013, after which he announced his retirement.

After his retirement, he was hired by CBS Sports to be an analyst for “That Other Pregame Show”. The hiring was controversial due to his issues before retiring, but he continued his work there eventually joining “The NFL Today”.
For his personal life, Bart married Darnesha in 2005, and they have two children. Like many football players, he suffered from concussion issues which made him decide that his son would not play football.
