How rich is Angel Cabrera? As of mid-2017, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $15 million, mostly earned through a successful career in professional golf. He’s the first and only Argentine to win both majors. He’s also known by the moniker “El Pato”, and as he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.

At a young age, Angel’s parents would split up and he was raised by his paternal grandmother. When he was 10 years old, he worked at the Cordoba Country Golf Club as a caddy, and would learn golf playing with other caddies. Soon, he would gain the attention of the members of the club which led to a local real estate magnate buying him his first set of clubs – he would grow to become the possessor of one of the biggest swings in the game.

Cabrera turned professional at the age of 20, and would then try his hand at joining the European Tour, failing three times before officially becoming a member in 1996. He slowly improved his skills and would place in the top 15 of the Order of Merit on several occasions with his highest placing at fifth. In 2001, he would earn his first win with the Argentine Open, and four years later he would win the BMW Championship which is considered the most prestigious event on the European Tour outside of the World Golf Championships and the majors. He would go on to win three events on the European Tour before winning seven events in Latin America. His net worth started to climb thanks to these achievements.

In 2005, Angel got an Official World Golf Ranking of ninth and maintained the top ranking of Latin American players for many years. He joined the PGA Tour, and would earn high amounts of money, increasing his net worth even more, as in 2007 he started playing full time on the PGA Tour. During the same year, he won his first major championship at the 2007 US Open, topping Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk, so becoming the first Argentine player to win the US Open and the second Argentine to win a major. He received an Olimpia de Oro as Argentina’s sportsperson of the year.

In 2009, he would then win the Masters Tournament after a sudden death playoff against Chad Campbell and Kenny Perry, and so became one of three active PGA Tour players who have won the US Open and the Masters, joining the ranks of just Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth.

Cabrera returned in the 2011 season after spending most of the previous year injured; his best finish in the year was a sixth place finish at the McGladrey Classic. While competing on the PGA tour, he also occasionally competed as part of the PGA Tour Latinoamerica which is a developmental tour. In 2014, he won the Greenbrier Classic held in West Virginia, having in 2013 been selected as a member of the International squad in the Presidents Cup.

For his personal life, it is known that Angel was married to Sylvia, and they have two children but divorced in 2009. He spends his free time promoting golf in Latin America, and is active in promoting golf as part of the Olympics, as well as the Olympics held in Brazil in 2016.
