Growing up in Springfield, Illinois, Iguodala and his older brother both loved basketball, but he was more than just a ball player. While studying at Lanphier High School, Iguodala was a member of the track team and was an honor student, joining the National Honor Roll and winner of All-Conference academic honors. However, he was still most passionate about basketball, leading his team into second place in the Illinois High School Class AA Tournament, and was Chicago Sun-Times’ Player of the year in 2002. With his outstanding performance during his high school years, he became a hot commodity for college recruiters.

University of Arkansas was Iguodala’s first choice, but when his preferred coach left, he changed his mind and decided to attend the University of Arizona. With his addition to the team, he was able to help them become part of the Elite Eight during the NCAA Tournament in 2003. He also became part of the Pac-10 All-Freshman honors during his first year, and was voted by his teammates as the Most Valuable Player of their team in his second year. However, Iguodala wanted more, so in his second season he decided to forego his last two years in college and joined the NBA draft.

In 2004, Iguodala was drafted as the 9th pick of Philadelphia 76ers, and the team immediately signed him to a six-year contract that helped his net worth considerably. He is the only rookie to start and play in all 82 season games of the Sixers. Aside from playing in the NBA, in 2006 Iguodala also participated in the FIBA World Championship, in which he helped Team USA win the gold medal. In 2008, he was also included in Team USA for the Olympics, in which they once again won the gold medal.

In 2012, Iguodala was traded to the Denver Nuggets in a four-team trade alongside Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum. His transfer proved to be beneficial, helping the team to a record of 57 wins. Only a year after, in 2013, he decided to become a free agent, and signed a new contract with the Golden State Warriors. The hefty contract once again increased his wealth. In 2015, he led his team to victory in the NBA, and was awarded Most Valuable Player of the finals’ series.

Aside from playing basketball, Iguodala also has an endorsement with the sports apparel company Nike, style director to Twice a second hand apparel company, and also has several speaking engagements, which have helped in his net worth.

In terms of his personal life, Iguodala married Christina in 2015, and they have two children.
