Eric Byrnes Net Worth $12 Million
Born in Redwood City, California USA, Byrnes started playing baseball at a young age, during his high school years at St. Francis High School in Mountain View, California, and was already a competitive player spending most of his playing years in the Western Catholic Athletic League. After graduating in 1994, he was already selected by the MLB amateur draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers, but decided to opt for college first. Byrnes was accepted at the University of California, Los Angeles, and played college baseball. During his third year in college, he was once again selected in the Major League Baseball draft, but he opted to finish college.
After graduation from UCLA, Byrnes’s professional career immediately took off. In 1998, he was selected in the MLB Draft by the Oakland Athletics, and his inclusion in the team immediately increased his net worth, as well as starting his professional career, although as usual playing in minor leagues for a couple of years; he then had five moderate seasons with Oakland.
In 2005, Byrnes was then traded to Colorado Rockies, and after a couple of weeks was traded again in the Baltimore Orioles and played for only a couple of months. In December of the same year, he became a free agent, and signed a new deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
In 2007 season, Byrnes signed a three-year, $30 million contract extension with the Diamondbacks, partly because of his ability to steal bases – 50 stolen bases plus 20 home runs in one season being very unusual. After five years with the Diamondbacks, Byrnes signed a contract with the Seattle Mariners in January of 2010, however, in May of that same year Byrnes decided to retire from MLB. Despite transferring in various teams, his decade long career in playing professionally tremendously helped his wealth.
After retiring from playing, Byrnes was still involved in the sport. Even before retiring, he appeared in various television shows as an analyst, then joined ESPN’s “Baseball Tonight” show and “The Best Damn Sports Show Period”. He also had his own “The Eric Byrnes Show”, and a radio show called “Hustle with Eric Byrnes” on XM Satellite Radio.
Byrnes got a gig with KNBR and hosted their nightly talk show. His transition to being a sports analyst has also helped maintain his income.
In terms of his personal life, Byrnes is living with his wife Tarah (m. 2007) in Half Moon Bay, California. The couple has a daughter named Chloe.
