Who is Adamari López?
If you are a fan of Mexican soap operas, you are certainly familiar with the Puerto Rican actress Adamari López Torres, who is one of the most popular telenovela stars, perhaps known best for her role as Rita Anguiano in the series “Alma De Hierro”. She has over 25 acting credits to her name, but she is also a singer, dancer, model and TV-show host. Since 2012, she’s been hosting the Telemundo show “Un Nuevo Dia”, which was two times nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Morning Show in Spanish, in 2012, and 2019.
Adamari was born under the zodiac sign of Taurus on 18 May 1971, in Humacao, Puerto Rico, where she was raised by her parents Viladina Torres, a housewife, and father Luis, was an undertaker. Adamari has one brother, Adalberto, about whom little is known.

Speaking of Adamari’s education, she attended a local high school, and upon matriculating in 1989, enrolled at the Sacred Heart University in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications in 1993.
Acting career
Adamari dreamed of becoming an actress from an early age,, and made her acting debut at the age of eight in the telenovela “Maria Eugenia”, while in the following years, she was seen in “Yo Se Que Mentia”, “Diana Carolina”, and “El Angelo de Barrio”, before she focused on her studying, and paused her budding career from 1986 until 1990.
Adamari made her first big-screen appearance in the 1993 movie “A Flight of Hope”, followed by her roles in the movies “Linda Sara” (1994) and “Heroes from Another Land” (1996), and next, she was cast to play Maria Elena Ysaguirre de Lujan in the series “Sin Ti”, which seems to be her breakthrough role, as after this, she starred in numerous telenovelas, but we will mention just some of her most notable roles.
Besides her role in “Alma De Hierro”, she amazed the audience with her roles in “Camila”, “Amigas y Rivales”, and “Gata Salvaje”, among others, and she is currently filming a new telenovela, entitled “Asi Se Baila”.
In March 2005, Adamari held a press conference in San Juan, to announce that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, which luckily was caught at ‘stage 1’ so she underwent lumpectomy surgery, and in 2006, it was reported that she was in remission.
Adamari is 50 years old now, and is healthy and well, but in one of her interviews, she spoke about her fight with cancer saying: ‘A cancer diagnosis is not a synonym for death. It’s a synonym for fighting, for seeking strength, and for learning to enjoy the things that life offers us.’
She is a supporter of the prevention and early detection of cancer, and has dedicated herself to helping organizations that are raising awareness of the importance of early breast cancer detection.
She’s also become a Latina ambassador for Weight Watchers, an international company focused on weight loss for overall health and wellness – Oprah Winfrey was the one who welcomed Adamari in the company, in 2020.
Marriage with Luis Fonsi
Adamari met her future husband, Luis Fonsi, for the first time in 2001, and it wasn’t until 2003 that they met again, and eventually started dating. The two announced their engagement in the following year, then when in 2005 Adamari was diagnosed with breast cancer, Luis announced that he is canceling his international tour. Luis is a singer who gained international fame with his hit song “Despacito” featuring Daddy Yankee; he was born on 15 April 1978, in San Juan, but when he was ten years old, his family moved to Orlando, Florida, where he still resides.

Adamari and Luis married on 3 June 2006, and although everything seemed great between the two of them, three years later they released a joint statement about their separation, and on 8 November 2010, the divorce was finalized; they didn’t have children together.
The two haven’t spoken about the reason for their divorce, however, some rumors were saying that Luis was cheating on Adamari, and in her later interview for an American Post, Adamari revealed: ‘He told me once that he didn’t want me as a woman, and I think that was one of the hardest moments of the whole process for me. When the person you love madly tells you that he does not want you as a woman, the world falls apart.’ Her announcement heated the rumors about Luis being unfaithful to her.
Affairs with Toni Costa
Adamari met Toni Costa while they were both participating in the dance contest “Mira Quien Baila” (Look who’s dancing), in 2011, and according to them, they soon fell in love.
Toni is a Spanish dancer, Zumba instructor, and YouTuber, born on 20 August 1983, in Valencia, Spain, and became famous after it was revealed that he was dating Adamari.
On 16 May 2014, the two announced their engagement, and in the following year, they became parents after Adamari gave birth to their daughter Alaïa.
However, on 27 May 2021, Adamari and Toni separated, and many people were surprised when they stated that the decision was joint since there were some rumors saying that Toni was cheating on her, and that he had an affair with an actress, Nani Gaitan.
According to The Canadian News, Toni had been cheating on Adamari for two years, and it seems that the truth was revealed after the magazine TvNotas spoke with a supposed relative of Adamari, who said that the family believed that Toni was bisexual, and had cheated on her with both a man and a woman.
After Adamari’s statement for People en Espanol in which she said: ‘There are things that I couldn’t allow for myself, but especially for my daughter, he and I know what happened.
He knows why. I didn’t take the decision lightly. It wasn’t a tantrum,’ rumors about Toni being bisexual floated the newspapers and internet.
One of Toni’s Instagram followers wrote under one of his videos, commenting that if he’s a bisexual and if it is true, Toni should accept the rumors, and Toni responded to him by saying: ‘Tell me…. And why do I have to accept something that I am not? Keep believing the shortcut of lies they tell out there.’
As of April 2022, Toni is in a relationship with a Mexican influencer, Evelyn Beltran, and Adamari seems to be single, and as she said, enjoying her life as a single mother to her daughter.
