Who is Cecily Tynan?
American TV meteorologist Cecily Joan Tynan was born in Newtown, Connecticut USA, on 19 March 1969, making her zodiac sign Pisces. She’s probably best known for the work she’s done for the TV station WPVI, having worked there since 1995.
Education and early life
Cecily and her younger brother Adam were raised in Newtown by their parents, about whom Cecily hasn’t shared a lot because she respects their privacy; she’s still revealed that her mother was born on 21 March 1932, and that her father wasn’t certain that she’d be able to succeed as a meteorologist.
Cecily grew up dancing ballet, and acting with her elementary school’s drama club, but became interested in weather when she was around six years old, as she was fascinated by storms and thunder. She was amongst the best students while attending a local high school, and by the time she turned 16, Cecily knew that she wanted to become a meteorologist.
She matriculated in 1987, and then enrolled at Washington and Lee University in Virginia, from which she graduated magna cum laude, with a double Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in politics and journalism in 1991; Cecily then went on to receive her TV seal number 1099 from the American Meteorological Society.
Cecily’s career
Cecily launched her career straight out of college, as she moved to Roanoke, Virginia and began working at WDBJ as their general assignment reporter and weekend weather anchor.
After around two years at WDBJ, Cecily moved to Las Vegas, Nevada as she was offered work as a news and weather anchor on KTNV’s show “Good Morning Las Vegas”. She started out as their general reporter and weekend weathercaster, and was eventually promoted to weekday morning weathercaster.
She joined WPVI in 1995, and when in 2003 the network’s weathercaster, Dave Roberts chose to retire, Cecily became the new weeknights weathercaster. American news presenter Lisa Thomas-Laury then took a medical leave, and Cecily began co-hosting multiple local TV specials too, including “The Flower Show”, “Philly on Wheels” and “The 4th of July Parade”.
Since 2009, Cecily’s been hosting the weathercasts at 5 and 6pm, and has also been working on the an 11pm meteorology newscast.

Cecily isn’t active on YouTube and doesn’t have her own channel, but many videos featuring her working have been uploaded onto the network by various users, and these have contributed to her popularity on the internet. Most of these videos show funny moments which occurred while Cecily was weathercasting, and we’re going to mention three of the most popular amongst these.
Her #1 video “Action News Philadelphia WPVI-TV – Cecily loses earring, Jim Gardner hunts it down” was uploaded by ThatGuyInPhilly on 24 May 2017, and has been watched close to 70,000 times; it features Jim Gardner who appears in front of the camera while Cecily was forecasting weather, trying to find her lost earring.

Presence on social media networks
Cecily enjoys running her social media accounts, and there are nearly 2,000 pictures and videos uploaded onto her Instagram account, while she’s today followed by nearly 50,000 people on the social media network; most content features her spending time in nature with her two pet dogs.
She launched her Twitter account in September 2009, and it’s currently followed by over 80,000 people, while Cecily’s tweeted more than 55,000 times, mostly to keep her fans up to date with weather forecasts.
Cecily’s also quite active on Facebook, and nearly 250,000 people are following her on the social media network today – she tends to update her account multiple times every day.
Cecily isn’t active on TikTok, but various users have uploaded many videos featuring her onto the network, and these have been viewed close to 250,000 times.
Love life and husband
Cecily’s married twice. Not a lot has been shared about her first husband, Michael Badger and their marriage, however, it’s known that he’s today working as a high school teacher; most of Cecily’s fans believe that they met while attending college, and married after they’d both graduated. The marriage lasted for around five years.
She and non-celebrity American Greg Watson had been in a relationship for multiple years prior to marrying in 2005, in a small and private ceremony held in Newtown, Connecticut. Cecily gave birth to their son Luke on 20 January 2006, and their daughter Emma Grace followed on 17 September 2007.
Cecily hasn’t mentioned other men whom she’s perhaps dated – she’s married to her second husband Greg Watson as of November 2022, and they have two children together.

Interesting facts and hobbies
Cecily’s physically highly active, and is a triathlete as well as a marathon runner; in 2001, she was featured on the cover page of the magazine “Runner’s World”.
She was inducted into the Hall of Fame by the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia in 2012.
Cecily loves being in nature and is a huge lover of animals; she has two pet dogs, and many of her Instagram pictures feature her spending time with them, as well as with a variety of other animals, including a bat, deer and squirrels.
Her job as a meteorologist has taken her to nearly all US states, and Cecily also enjoys travelling overseas with her husband, with her favorite city to visit being Paris, France.
Her favorite actresses are Renee Zellweger, Brie Larson and Emma Stone, and some of her favorite movies include “Shake, Rattle and Rock!”, “A Price Above Rubies”, and “Bridget Jones’ Diary”.
