Bob Golic was a son of Louis Robert and Catherine Golic and grew up in Ohio with his two brothers, Greg and Mike. He went to St. Joseph’s High School, and participated in both football and wrestling, recorded notable results in wrestling. Golic then received a football scholarship from the University of Notre Dame, where he played football for the Fighting Irish and was voted into the first-team All-American in 1978. Bob graduated with a Bachelors degree in management, and was also one of the best wrestlers in the country with the record of 54-4-1.
The New England Patriots selected Golic as the 52nd pick overall in the 1979 NFL Draft, and he spent three seasons there before the Patriots cut him and he moved to the Cleveland Browns.
