A.J. Calloway was born on 29 August 1974, in New Jersey USA, of African-American descent. He is a television personality and entrepreneur, best known for hosting the BET music countdown show “106 & Park”, and the entertainment news show “Extra” on Entertainment Television.

Calloway grew up in New Jersey, where he attended Newark’s Saint Benedict’s Prep School. He later enrolled at Howard University, in Washington, D.C., majoring in International Business.
His interest in the entertainment world was revealed during his high-school days, when he began to promote parties and fundraisers for various organizations. While attending Howard, he pursued a marketing and promotions career, opening his own promotion company. He became involved in various events of the university, being credited for creating some of its best homecoming events.
After college, Calloway went on with the business, moving to New York City, where he continued to create events for numerous organizations he became involved in, mastering his skills and paving his way to recognition. His net worth was at its start.

In 2000 Calloway got a great opportunity to pursue a career on television. He was offered a co-host position on BET’s new video countdown show called “106 & Park”, alongside DJ and music producer Marie Antoinette Wright, also known as Free. The show, which featured various celebrity guests, live performances as well as the most popular videos selected by viewers, became extremely popular, taking first place among video shows in the US, and earning record-breaking ratings for BET network. Speaking about his personal life, Calloway was married to Lao Sealey from 2005 to 2007. As of 2013 he has been married to Dione Walker, with whom he has two children.
