Who is Rena Sofer?

The saga of the rich Forrester and the poor Logan families entitled “The Bold and the Beautiful” started broadcast back in 1990, and thirteen years later, a new character came into the show. It was Quinn Fuller, a jewelry designer and the owner of the Quinn Artisan Jewelers, a mysterious and unscrupulous woman who is ready for anything to achieve what she wants. She has 60 acting credits to her name, and besides the mentioned role, is perhaps still known best for her role as Lois Cerullo in the series “General Hospital”, which brought her the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, and Soap Opera Digest Award Outstanding Younger Lead Actress, both in 1995.

Early life and education

Rena was born under the zodiac sign of Sagittarius on 2 December 1968, in Arcadia, California USA; she holds American nationality, and comes from a family of Jewish descent. She was raised by her mother, Susan Sofer, who was a psychology professor, and her father Martin Sofer, who was a Conservative rabbi.

The family moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania during her childhood, but when her parents divorced, Rena moved with her father and brother to Teaneck, New Jersey, where Rena attended the co-educational yeshiva Frisch School.

Later they lived in North Bergen, New Jersey, where Rena attended North Bergen High School, then upon matriculating in 1986, she enrolled at Montclair State College in New Jersey, from which she didn’t graduate, but moved to New York City and began taking acting classes.

Roles in series

Rena made her acting debut in 1987, portraying Joyce Abernathy in three episodes of the series “Another World”, followed by her role as Amelia McKenzie in “Loving”, from 1988 until 1991, and was next seen as Veronica in two episodes of the series “Freshman Dorm” in 1992.

From 1993 through 1997, Rena played one of her most notable roles, as Lois Cerullo in “General Hospital”, also starring Maurice Benard, Laura Wright and Steve Burton in this romantic crime drama, which had 637 award nominations, including one for Primetime Emmy, and won 301 – the original series started airing back in 1963).

Concurrently, Rena guest-starred in “Herman’s Head”, “Caroline in the City”, and “Seinfeld”, and then in 1998, she was cast to play Eve Cleary in “Melrose Place”, followed by her role as Suzanne Vandermeer in “Oh, Grow Up” in ’99.

Rena made her big-screen debut portraying Shayna in “A Stranger Among Us” in 1992, and in the same year she was seen as Andrea Larson in the TV movie “Saved by the Bell: Hawaiian Style”, before in 1994 being cast to play Judy in “Twin Sitters” followed by her role as Kerry Ellison in “Hostile Advances: The Kerry Ellison Story” in 1996.

The two had an on-screen match-up which apparently grew into a real-life love story; they married in 1995, and Rena gave birth to their daughter Rosabel Rosalind Kurth on 17 September 1996, however, in the following year, Rena and Wally divorced; their daughter, who is now aged 25, is an artist widely known for her drawings.

In 2002, Rena started dating Sanford Bookstaver, a television director and producer whom she met on the set of the series “The Chronicle”, and after a year, the two married. On 5 August 2005, Rena and Sanford welcomed their daughter, Avalon Leone Bookstaver, and although it seemed that Rena and Sanford were going great, in 2017 they divorced. However, two years later they reconciled, and in April 2019 announced that they were engaged, which they celebrated by buying a house in Los Angeles’ Valley Glen, California.

As of March 2022, the two are still together, but haven’t yet shared their wedding date.

Rena’s age is 53, she has black hair and piercing blue eyes which is her trademark; she weighs around 125lbs (56kgs) and is 5ft 7ins (1.68m) tall, with vital statistics of 34-25-35.
