Who is Malcolm Washington?

Born on 10th April 1991, in Los Angeles, California, USA, Malcolm Washington is a writer, director, and former basketball player, also known for being the son of the legendary actor Denzel Washington. The cheerful Aries is 5ft 9ins (1.78m) tall and weighs 165lbs (75kgs), with unknown vital statistics.

Family & Upbringing

Malcolm’s paternal grandmother, Lennis, was born in Georgia but moved to Harlem, New York, in her childhood. Later in life, she met and married Denzel Hayes Washington Sr., an ordained Pentecostal minister, and former employee of the New York City Water Department who was frequently away from home.

Malcom’s father, Denzel Jr., was born on 28th December 1954 in Mount Vernon, New York State, and was cared for by his mother, who juggled parenthood and owning a beauty parlor. In 1968, she divorced Denzel Sr., and sent her son to Oakland Military Academia, a private preparatory school in New Windsor. According to the A-lister, it was a life-changing decision, seeing as his friends at the time ended up behind bars after getting caught up with the wrong crowd. Denzel himself kept on the straight and narrow, studying at Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida, and graduating from Fordham University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama and Journalism in 1976.

At 18-years-old, the actor and director went to live with his father, but was kicked out for unexplained reasons. This led to a strained relationship between the two, and the actor would later confess in a soul-baring interview with Gentleman’s Quarterly Magazine that he didn’t shed a single tear at his father’s funeral. After a semester off, Denzel gained work experience at Camp Sloane YMCA in Lakeville, Connecticut, where a colleague suggested he try his hand at acting after his participation in a staff talent show. Inspired by his advice, Denzel studied acting at the Lincoln Center campus, and was cast in productions such as “Othello” and “The Emperor Jones”.
