Maya Boyce Wiki Bio

Maya Boyce was born in Los Angeles, California USA, on 28 December 2000 – her zodiac sign is Capricorn, and she holds American nationality. She’s a philanthropist, social media star and an actress, also known for being the sister of the late actor Cameron Boyce.

Early life, family and education

Maya grew up in Los Angeles alongside her older brother Cameron – their mother is of Jewish heritage, while their father, Victor, is an African-American. Their paternal grandmother, Jo Ann Boyce, was one of the Clinton Twelve, the first African-Americans to attend an integrated high school in the US South in 1956.

Maya matriculated from Oak Park High School in 2018, and during her time there, she started showing interest in the performing arts, and appeared in local productions of plays. In 2018, she moved to Boston, Massachusetts, to study contemporary theatre at Berklee College of Music.

Career and philanthropic work

As an actress, Maya has had only one movie role so far, in the 2020 comedy drama “(home)Schooled”, directed by Jessica Sherif, and which starred David Blue, Francois Chau and Karen David. As of early 2022, she’s more focused on her theatre work, and finishing her studies, while she plans to take on more TV series and film roles once she graduates.

On the other hand, despite her young age, Maya is quite well known as a philanthropist. Her late brother, Cameron, was involved in a number of causes himself, while their mother Libby actively works with the Los Angeles’ homeless community, so Maya’s involvement comes as no surprise. As a child, she started helping her mother by visiting some of the homeless shelters she worked at. ‘They’ll have holiday parties, and we used to go and hang out with the kids. I was their age, so we would just play all together’, she revealed in an interview she gave for the fashion magazine “Teen Vogue”.

Nine days after her brother passed away, on 15 July 2019, Maya and her parents launched the Cameron Boyce Foundation, to continue his legacy and raise awareness and fund research projects related to epilepsy and SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy), which caused Cameron’s untimely death. Maya has also taken the responsibility of working on the Wielding Peace project, which was started by her late brother. It’s a photography-based project which aims to raise awareness against gun violence which is becoming more and more prevalent in the American schools. ‘Wielding Peace became a photo series of kids holding artistic tools and such — you know, paintbrushes, cameras, trombones, whatever it is that a kid is passionate about — and wielding it like a weapon’, Maya explained in an interview.

Maya has become very popular on Instagram, with her account ‘@maya.elan’ numbering more than 600,000 followers. On there, she mainly posts photos featuring her friends and family, while she also likes to share some more artistic photography shots.

She launched her Twitter account in December 2015, and was fairly active on the platform before deactivating her account in late 2019. Maya is not active on other social media platforms, such as TikTok and Facebook, although there are some fan accounts dedicated to her.

Maya is 21 years old. She has shoulder length black hair and brown eyes, is 5ft 7ins (1.7m) tall, and weighs around 120lbs (55kgs).

As of February 2022, her net worth has been estimated at more than $500,000.
