Vanessa began her acting career with roles in several Canadian TV shows, including “Popular Mechanics,” “Are You Afraid of the Dark,” and “Radio Active” in 2000. She later lent her voice to a character in the animated show “Arthur”, before she landed a lead role in the movie “Ratz” in 2002. In the same year, she was selected for the notable role of Roxanne in the NBC TV show “American Dreams”, and was later seen in the film “The Perfect Man” opposite Hilary Duff.

Sugar suffers from Aspergers Syndrome, and during an interview, Venessa admitted that it was very difficult for her to purposely sing poorly, and while her character attracted several positive reviews at first, most people grew tired of it, so it ended up being named the worst character, and decreasing due to the negative reviews. She was very frustrated when she had to exit the show in its fourth season – however, she was later cast to reappear in two episodes in its sixth season.

In 2007, Lengies was romantically linked to Jamie Waylett, who is a former British actor, famous for playing Vincent in six of the eight “Harry Potter” films. The duo met and began dating in 2007, but broke up shortly afterwards. A few years after they parted ways, Jamie was arrested in London and imprisoned for two years for participating in 2012 riots in England. Vanessa went on to date American actor Will Estes, widely known for his role of Reagan in CBS’s “Blue Bloods” – the duo met on the sets of the series “American Dreams” and became more than friends as they began going on dates.
