Who is Sherilyn Fenn?

American actress and author Shery Ann Fenn was born in Detroit, Michigan USA, on 1 February 1965, meaning that her zodiac sign’s Aquarius. She’s had roles in more than 120 movies and TV series, and is perhaps still best known for her playing of Girl in Accident in the 1990 crime comedy movie “Wild at Heart”, directed by David Lynch, and which starred Nicolas Cage, Laura Dern and Willem Dafoe. It follows Lula and Sailor who are running away from assassins hired by Lula’s mother; the movie won five of its 18 award nominations, including an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Diane Ladd).

Sherilyn and her two older brothers were raised in Detroit by their mother Ariene Quatro who was a keyboard player, and father Leo Fenn who was a music manager, and who worked with famous American rock ‘n’ roll singer Alice Cooper, and the all-female rock ‘n’ roll band The Pleasure Seekers; Sherilyn’s aunt Susan Kay ‘Suzi’ Quatro’s a famous American singer-songwriter and actress.

Sherilyn travelled all around the US with her family while growing up, mostly because of her parents’ careers, and was 17 when they settled in Los Angeles, California; not wanting to switch schools again, Sherilyn dropped out and chose to instead pursue a career in the film industry.

Roles in movies

Sherilyn’s debut film role was her playing of Penny Harlin in the 1984 comedy “The Wild Life”, while some of her following appearances were in the 1984 action “Out of Control”, the romantic comedy “Just One of the Guys” and the short drama “Dummies” both in 1985.

She began attracting attention in 1988, with her portrayal of the main character April Delongpre in the romantic drama “Two Moon Junction”, written and directed by Zalman King, and which also starred Richard Tyson and Louise Fletcher. It follows a married woman who’s having an affair with a drifter working at a local carnival – the movie won a Razzie Award for Worst Supporting Actress (Kristy McNichol).

A couple of Sherilyn’s following notable performances were in the 2001 family comedy “Off Season”, the 2003 mystery crime thriller “Nightwaves” and the 2006 romantic comedy “Novel Romance”. In 2007, she was cast to star as Lulu Hogg in the action adventure comedy “The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning”, which Robert Berlinger directed, and which also starred April Scott, Jonathan Bennett and Randy Wayne. It follows Luke and Bo Duke as they’re running outlawed liquor to make enough money to save their uncle’s farm.

Sherilyn’s debut TV series role was her playing of Gabrielle in the 1985 episode “The Groom Wore Clearasil” of the comedy “Cheers”, and the remainder of the ‘80s saw her appear in an episode of the drama “Heart of the City”, the crime mystery “21 Jump Street”, and the adventure comedy “ABC Afterschool Specials”.

Sherilyn went on to appear in an episode or two of five TV series in the ‘90s, and gained recognition in 1998, when cast to star as Billie Frank in the comedy “Rude Awakening”, created by Claudia Lonow, and which also starred Jonathan Penner and Lynn Redgrave. In 2014, she portrayed Donna Cochran in the popular crime drama “Ray Donovan”, which Ann Biderman created, and which starred Dash Mihok, Eddie Marsan and Live Schreiber. It follows Ray Donovan who finds it easy to ‘fix’ wealthy people’s problems, but cannot fix his family’s issues; the series aired from 2013 to 2020 and won five of its 47 award nominations.

Some of Sherilyn’s most recent TV series roles have been in nine episodes of the action crime adventure “S. W. A. T.” from 2017 through 2021, the 2021 episode “The Fool” of the comedy “In the Cards”, and three episodes of the 2022 fantasy horror comedy “Shinning Vale”.

Other credits

Sherilyn sang the songs “Blues in the Night” and “It Had to Be You” in the 1992 biographical crime film “Ruby”, and she sang “Somebody to Love” in the 1998 episode “Naked Again” of the comedy series “Rude Awakening”.

She received special thanks for the 1995 short documentary comedy film “The Crypt Keeper Presents: A Spine-Tingling Look at Tales from the Crypt”, and the 2007 short documentary movie “Twin Peaks Cast Interviews: ‘Origin’ ‘Production’ ‘Legacy’”.

Sherilyn’s recently made a guest appearance in talk-shows “Mornings”, “Paul O’Grady’s Hollywood”, and “Pop Reality”.

Sherilyn’s won one of her four award nominations: a Jury Prize for Best Actress at the 2021 Oregon Independent Film Festival, for her performance in the thriller movie “Losing Addison”.

Sherilyn spent some time dating famous American singer-songwriter and record producer Prince Rogers Nelson in 1985, and she then began dating popular American actor and musician John Christopher ‘Johnny’ Depp II; Sherilyn and Johnny were together for close to four years, and were also engaged but split for unknown reasons.

On 4 December 1994, Sherilyn married American guitarist, songwriter and cameraman Toulouse Holliday, in a small and private ceremony attended by less than 100 people; she had previously given birth to their son Myles Holliday on 15 December 1993. Sherilyn and Toulouse divorced in 1997.

From 2006 to 2013, Sherilyn was in a relationship with American freelance Macintosh consultant Dylan Stewart, and she gave birth to their son Christian James on 6 August 2007.
