Who is Jane Brucker?

Jane Rachel Brucker was born in Falls Church, Virginia USA, on 14 May 1958 – her zodiac sign is Taurus, and she holds American nationality. She’s an actress and songwriter, with just 12 acting credits to her name, probably still known best for her portrayal of Lisa Houseman in the evergreen 1987 romantic musical movie “Dirty Dancing”. It was directed by Emile Ardolino, starred Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey and Jerry Orbach, and follows Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman who’s spending summer at a Catskills resort, and has fallen in love with Johnny Castle, the camp’s dance instructor; the movie won 12 awards, including an Oscar for Best Music, Original Song.

Early life and education

Jane was raised in Falls Church by her mother and father, about whom not a lot is known as she respects their privacy; it’s believed that they were both involved in the real estate business. Because Jane hasn’t spoken of any siblings, most of her fans believe her to be an only child.

She studied at a local high school, and was mostly interested in comedy and acting during her four years there; Jane appeared in nearly all the plays performed at the school, and was 15 when she began playing supporting characters in theatre plays. She was also into a couple of other activities during her teenage years, including dancing and playing sports.

Jane made her debut TV series appearance in 1986, when cast to play Maggie Delakian in three episodes of the long-running romantic drama “One Life to Live”, created by Agnes Nixon, and which starred Erika Slezak, Michael Easton and Kristen Alderson. It follows members of the wealthy Lord family from Llanview, Pennsylvania, as well as the members of the Riley and Wolek families; the series aired from 1968 to 2013, and won 95 of the 520 awards for which it was nominated.

Also in 1986, Jane played Angela Mitchell in the episode “Baby Blues” of the action crime drama “Miami Vice”, and the year 1988 saw her appear in the episode “Seize the Time” of the mystery crime drama “Crime Story”, and the episode “Player to Be Named Now” of another mystery crime drama, “Wiseguy”.

In 1989, she played Elizabeth McQueen in four episodes of the comedy “Doctor Doctor”, created by Norman Steinberg, and which starred Matt Frewer, Julius Carry and Beau Gravitte. It tells the story of four doctors who’ve launched Northeast Medical Partners; the series aired from 1989 to 1991 and won two awards.

Jane’s appeared in only one other TV series: the 1998 episode “When Ellen Talks, People Listen” of the romantic comedy “Ellen”.

Roles in movies

The year 1988 saw Jane play Sheryl in the popular romantic sports drama “Stealing Home”, written and directed by Steven Kampmann and William Porter, and which starred Mark Harmon, Jodie Foster and Blair Brown. It follows former baseball player Billy whose childhood girlfriend has now committed suicide.

In 1989, Jane played Charlotte in the romantic comedy drama “Bloodhounds of Broadway”, and her following role came in 2001, when cast to star in the short drama “Wedding Album”.

The year 2005 saw her portray Kevin’s Mom in the action sports drama “Dishdogz”, directed by Mikey Hilb, and which starred Marshall Allman, Haylie Duff and Luke Perry. It follows a teenager who’s begun working as a dishwasher at an extreme sports camp.

Jane’s only other movie role has been her portrayal of Miss Kiley in the 2009 short comedy “Holding for Miss Kiley”, and although she hasn’t had any roles since then, she hasn’t officially retired from acting; she’s today leading a peaceful life at her home in Los Angeles, California.
