Who is Zaria Simone?

American actress and social media personality Zaria Simone was born under the zodiac sign Taurus on 25 April 1996, in California, USA. She has only nine acting credits, and is perhaps known best for playing Faran Bryant in 10 episodes of the 2022 romantic mystery series “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin”, created by Lindsay Calhoon Bring and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, and which starred Chandler Kinney, Bailee Madison and Jordan Gonzalez. It follows the lives of several best friends, and the series won a 2023 ReFrame Stamp for TV.

Education and early life

Zaria was raised in California by her parents whom she’s keeping away from media as they prefer it this way; her father’s believed to be a businessman and her mother a doctor, but this is yet to be confirmed by Zaria. She hasn’t spoken of having siblings, and is thus believed to have none.

Zaria began attending a local high school in 2010, and was into various activities while there as she ran track, played soccer with her peers and was on the school’s drama club; it was during this time that she became passionate about acting, however, she still chose to remain focused on her education.

Zaria matriculated in 2014 and then enrolled at college, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in international relations in 2017.

Roles in TV series

Zaria’s debut TV series role was playing Sasha in the 2019 episode “Is It Desert of Dessert?” of the critically acclaimed comedy “Black-ish”, which Kenya Barris created, and which starred Anthony Anderson and Marcus Scribner. It follows a black man as he’s raising his children in a predominantly white neighborhood, the series aired from 2014 through 2022 and won 75 of its 312 award nominations.

The year 2021 saw her play Courtney in the episode “#BlackPeopleDontGoToTherapy” of the family comedy “Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!”, created by Jim Patterson and Jamie Fox, and which starred Jamie Foxx, Kyla-Drew and Porscha Coleman. The series follows the owner of a cosmetics brand whose teenage daughter’s just moved in with him; it was nominated for a single award.

Also in 2021, Zaria played Alexis in the episode “Revelations” of the comedy “Millennial Jenny”, created by Holly Shervey, who also stars in it alongside Jacqueline Nairn and Emmett Skilton. It follows Jenny who hates her job and is bored, the series has been airing since 2019, and has won 12 of its 39 award nominations.

Zaria’s only other TV series role has been portraying Jen Clewell in the 2022 episode “Pumped” of the crime drama “Bosch: Legacy”, which Tom Bernardo and Michael Connelly created, and which starred Madison Lintz, Mimi Rogers and Titus Welliver. It follows the business ventures of Bosch, and the series was nominated for a 2022 Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Saturn Award for Best Streaming Action & Adventure Series.

Roles in movies

Zaria’s appeared in only three movies. Her debut was portraying a supporting character in the 2019 short science fiction film “Emotical”, written and directed by Ellis E. Fowler, who also starred in it alongside Omari Washington and John F. Thomas. It follows a small team of resistance fighters as they’re about to face Arch-One and his deadly robot army; the movie won five of its nine award nominations.

She played Perri in the 2020 short science fiction “Two Distant Strangers”, written and directed by Travon Free, and in which she starred alongside Vincent Mordente and Joey Bada$$. It follows a man who’s become stuck in a time loop, and the movie won a 2021 Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film.

In 2022, Zaria played Eve in the popular biographical musical “Taurus”, written and directed by Tim Sutton, and which starred Ruby Rose, Megan Fox and Scoot McNairy. It follows the final days in the life of a talented but problematic musician, and the movie was nominated for a 2022 Berlin International Film Festival Panorama Audience Award for Best Feature Film.

Other credits

Zaria sang the songs “Together”, “Starlight” and “Sing Out” in several episodes of the 2019 fantasy comedy musical series “The Super Pops”.

He has four acting, 10 writing and eight producing credits, and is perhaps known best for writing and directing the above mentioned 2020 short science fiction film “Two Distant Strangers”, which won an Oscar.
