KT Smith
The digital content creator and social media influencer Katie Dell ‘KT’ Smith was born on 13th November 1994, in Key West, Florida, USA, but currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee.
KT rose to notoriety thanks to her previous relationship with the controversial country singer Morgan Wallen, and although some time has passed since their split, the former couple are often discussed in gossip blogs to this day as they navigate co-parenting their young son and allowing him a normal upbringing away from media intrusion.
These days, KT has reinvented herself as a lifestyle and family influencer, and works closely with big brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Tarte, and Bloom. Although her YouTube channel has yet to crack 2,000 subscribers, she’s far more popular on Instagram and Snapchat, whereas her Amazon storefront is another booming success that allows her to earn a comfortable living from affiliate links.
KT is said to be 5ft 4ins (163cm) tall with a weight of about 127lbs (58kgs).
Early Years
KT likes to say that she’s an open book, and the best indicator of that would be her now-defunct blog, “Thot Thoughts”. According to a 2021 post, the influencer lived in Florida until the age of 12, but moved around constantly during her childhood, attending up to 15 schools and living in dozens of places with her mother.
The YouTuber’s unstable upbringing was probably caused by the divorce of her parents, which occurred in 1997 or early 1998, and the death of her father when she was just four years old. Despite not having a paternal figure, KT basked in the love of her mother, grandmother, and aunt Trice. The influencer also has two half-brothers – one paternal, one maternal – whose identities she prefers to keep anonymous.
In 2007, KT and her mother moved to Knoxville to be closer to her maternal half-brother and his father. ‘At this time, I had no idea where my other brother was because of the loss of my dad and no communication with that side of his family,’ the blonde explained. After searching for him online for decades, they finally reunited in the late 2010s, and have since developed an even closer bond than when they were children.
KT’s home situation improved considerably after relocating to Knoxville. However, although she only attended two schools, she and her mother continued to move house often. In sixth grade, KT embarked on her religious journey thanks to a friend named Jessica, who invited her to her church.
Religion
The youth group became a vital part of KT’s day-to-day life as they attended mission trips, spent time together after school, and went to church three times a week or more. In eighth grade, the social media star decided to change her name to “KT” and says that “Katie” was her ‘before Christ name’.
Unfortunately, KT was sexually assaulted by her youth pastor after two years of being in the group, and many adult members of the congregation blamed the Floridian for the appalling incident. After leaving the youth group and sinking into depression, KT switched to homeschooling for a year, and continued to suffer stalking and harassment from her youth pastor. As a consequence, she developed severe insomnia, and had to take sleeping pills from ages 14 to 25.
Eventually, KT decided to forgive her aggressor and not take the case to court, partly due to a lack of evidence and because she would be forced to relive her experience and see him again. After returning to her old school, the blonde linked up with some of her old friends from the youth group and was introduced to Young Life, which describes itself as a ‘Christ-centered ministry that helps kids know Jesus, grow in their faith, and serve Him’.
Soon, KT found herself attending church with fellow Young Life members, and serving in the children’s ministry. Upon matriculating from high school, she began working there part-time despite being a freshman at community college.

At 18 years old, KT’s social security number was stolen by a family member, who accumulated thousands of dollars in debt and destroyed KT’s credit. Unable to do anything, the YouTuber took on three jobs to pay everything off while balancing her studies and Young Life commitments. When not in class, the Floridian worked part-time at a suntanning salon, a Baptist church, and a medical center, proving herself to be a jack of all trades.
Amazingly, KT managed to forgive said family member and get them into rehab for their painkiller addiction. These days, they are reportedly on much better terms – and, most importantly, the family member has been sober for years. Despite so many trials and tribulations, the Instagram star claims that her faith continued to grow and strengthen during this time.
Relationship with Morgan
In 2017, after ending a long-term relationship with one of her first serious boyfriends, KT began chatting to musician Morgan Wallen on Snapchat. At the time, the country crooner had already made a name for himself in the reality singing show “The Voice” and released his debut EP, “Stand Alone”.
Within months, KT and Morgan progressed from dating casually to becoming engaged. After breaking off the engagement, they still continued to date for another two years, and lived together for three years overall. ‘But that third year was rocky,’ KT told her blog followers. ‘The kind of toxic, trauma bond you hear about on Tik Tok.’
Unable to let go of each other, KT and Morgan remained in constant communication, and the Young Life member also travelled on the road with her ex-fiancé as he toured the States. Morgan often cheated on his then-girlfriend, and although she would forgive him years later, at the time she believed that she wasn’t good enough.
Nearing the end of their relationship, KT became pregnant. Three months into her pregnancy, she suffered a car accident in which her vehicle was totaled and had to wait over a year to receive the insurance. Unable to purchase another car, the influencer quit her job in outside sales due to a lack of transportation, and moved to an apartment complex where she worked from home as COVID lockdowns were enforced around the world.
Although KT’s story makes for harrowing reading, she described her pregnancy as one of the most ‘healing’ times of her life, perhaps because her mother moved in with her and was a constant source of support. Soon after the birth of KT and Morgan’s son Indigo in July 2020, the musician publicly announced the happy news on Instagram, gaining KT 100,000 followers almost overnight.
When a social media management company reached out to the Florida native with an exciting full-time work opportunity, KT accepted immediately and moved into a larger home for her small family.
As for parenthood, KT and Morgan’s co-parenting journey got off to a rocky start when Indigo was born, but as time passed, both adults put their feelings aside and overcame their differences. ‘It will always have tough times, but the most important thing is that we will always put our little angel first,’ the influencer has said.
Although KT no longer posts on her “Thot Thoughts” blog, she has a number of exciting ventures on the way such as a podcast and a business. She is also in a steady relationship with actor and YouTuber Luke Scornavacco.
