Who is Jonathan Daviss?

American actor Jonathan Daviss – aka J. D. – was born in Nashville, Tennessee USA, on 28 February 2000, so Pisces is his zodiac sign. He’s so far appeared in only nine movies and TV series, and is perhaps best known for portraying Elliot in the 2022 comedy movie “Do Revenge”, written and directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, and which starred Camila Mendes, Maya Hawke and Austin Abrams. It follows Eleanor and Drea who’ve agreed to go after each other’s bullies, and the film was nominated for a Guild Music Supervisors Award for Best Music Supervision for a Non-Theatrically Released Film.

Jonathan and his younger sister were raised in Nashville by their mother and father, who prefer to stay away from media. Jonathan expressed his desire to become an actor at a quite an early age, and his mother thus sold her house so that they could all move to Los Angeles, California and help him pursue a career in the film industry.

The family initially moved to Conroe, Texas where Jonathan studied at Conroe High School, and they then moved to Los Angeles, with him switching to a local high school there; Jonathan was physically quite active during his teenage years, and played football for his high school team.

He matriculated in 2018, and then focused on acting, rather than pursuing a college degree.

Roles in TV series

Jonathan’s appeared in only two TV series. He played Kid in the 2013 episode “One Riot, One Ranger” of the popular action adventure “Revolution”, which Eric Kripke created, and which starred Giancarlo Esposito, Tracy Spiridakos and Billy Burke. Set 15 years after a permanent global blackout, the series follows a group of people as they’re trying to take down the militia currently controlling the US; the series aired from 2012 through 2014 and won five of its 16 award nominations.

Since 2020, Jonathan’s been playing Pope Heyward in the crime action “Outer Banks”, created by Shannon Burke, Jonas Pate and Josh Pate, and which stars Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline and Madison Bailey. It follows John B who’s trying to find a legendary treasure together with his three friends – the series has won three of its 11 award nominations.

Roles in movies

Jonathan’s debut film role was playing Samuel Washington in the 2014 romantic western “Deliverance Creek”, which Jon Amiel directed, and which starred Christopher Backus, Wes Ramsey and Lauren Ambrose. It tells the story of a widow and her three children during the American Civil War, and the movie won one of its three award nominations.

Jonathan could then have been seen playing Young Spike in the 2017 short family adventure “All the Marbles”, written and directed by Michael Swingler, and which starred Cole Sand, Carl Petersen and Helen Sadler. It follows a boy who’s challenged his bully to a game of marbles; the film won six awards.

Jonathan appeared in three movies in 2018, with the first having been the drama “Edge of the World”, directed by Randy Redroad, and which starred Noah Alford, Brent Anderson and Megal Dalby; it follows a cross country coach as he’s teaching a group of troubled teenagers about life. Jonathan was then cast to play Mathis in the romantic comedy “Age of Summer”, which Bill Kiely wrote and directed, and starred Percy Hynes White, Jake Ryan and Charlotte Sabina. Set in 1986, the movie follows a teenager working for the Junior Lifeguards of Hermosa Beach.

Jonathan’s only other film role has been playing Teddy in the 2018 crime thriller “Shattered Memories”, written and directed by Chris Sivertson, and which starred Elizabeth Bogush, Eddie Kaye Thomas and Brad Schmidt; it follows a woman who’s just woken up next to the body of her former lover.

Other credits

Jonathan sang the song “Paid in Full” in the 2020 episode “The Bell Tower” of the series “Outer Banks”.

Some of his recent talk-show appearances have been in “Access Hollywood”, “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and “IMDb on the Scene – Interviews”.
