Who is Ben Hardy?

British actor Ben Hardy was born as Ben Jones in Bournemouth, Dorset England, on 2 January 1991, meaning that his zodiac sign is Capricorn. He’s appeared in close to 20 movies and TV series, and is perhaps best known for his debut film role playing Angel in the popular 2016 science fiction action adventure movie “X-Men: Apocalypse”, written and directed by Bryan Singer, and which starred James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence. It follows a group of mutants known as X-Men as they’re trying to prevent En Sabah Nu from destroying Earth; the movie won one of its 20 award nominations.

He’s today shooting for four upcoming movies, including the romantic dramas “Unicorns” and “The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight”.

Education and early life

Ben was raised in Sherborne, South West England by his British parents, and seems to be their only child as he hasn’t spoken of having siblings; he hasn’t shared a lot about his parents, but it’s believed that his father’s a high school teacher, and his mother a real estate agent.

Ben studied at Sherborne Abbey Primary School prior to progressing to the Gryphon School, where he became interested in acting, after having starred in the school’s production of “Far from the Madding Crowd”. He then joined Gryphon’s drama club, and appeared in nearly all the school plays prior to matriculating in 2009.

Ben went on to study acting at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in acting in 2012.

Roles in TV series

Ben’s debut TV series role was his playing of Reporter in the 2012 episode “Baby Snatcher” of the critically acclaimed historical drama “Call the Midwife”, created by Heidi Thomas, and which today stars Vanessa Redgrave, Laura Main and Jenny Agutter. Set in the ‘50s and ‘60s, the series follows a group of midwives in East London, has been airing since 2012 and has won 19 of its 39 award nominations.

Between 2013 and 2015, Ben starred as Peter Beale in 189 episodes of the romantic crime drama “EastEnders”, which has been airing since 1985, numbering nearly 9,000 episodes. It was Julia Smith and Tony Holland who created the series, which today stars Pam St. Clement, Steve McFadden and Adam Woodyatt, and follows the people living in a Victorian-era neighbourhood,  the Albert Square in London; it’s won 196 of its 488 award nominations.

Concurrently, Ben played T-Bird in a 2014 episode of the family drama “Children in Need”, and could then have been seen playing King Arthur in the 2017 episode “King Arthur/Eric Liddell” of the historical comedy “Drunk History: UK”. This was followed by Walter Hartright in four episodes of the 2018 mystery thriller mini-series “The Woman in White”.

Ben’s had two other TV series roles, both in 2021 – a supporting character in an episode of the drama “Made in Hollywood”, and portraying Simon in the romantic thriller mini-series “The Girl Before”, which starred Gugu Mbatha-Raw and David Oyelowo, and follows a woman who’s fallen in love with an architect. The mini-series was nominated for three awards.

Roles in movies

In 2017, Ben portrayed Polidori in the popular biographical historical drama “Mary Shelley”, written and directed by Haifaa Al-Mansour, and which starred Elle Fanning, Bel Powley and Owen Richards. It follows Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin who was 16 when she met 21-year-old poet Percy Shelley, who led her to write her book “Frankenstein”; the movie won two of its nine award nominations.

Also in 2017, Ben played Wade Parker in the critically acclaimed biographical action drama “Only the Brave”, which Joseph Kosinski directed, and which starred Josh Brolin, Miles Teller and Jeff Bridges; it tells the true story of a group of firefighters who risked their lives to protect their town from a wildfire;d the movie was nominated for three awards.

Some of Ben’s following roles were in the 2018 biographical musical drama “Bohemian Rhapsody”, which won 52 awards, including four Oscars for music and lead actor Rami Malek, the 2019 action thriller “6 Underground”, and the 2020 crime thriller comedy “Pixie”.

He’s appeared in only one other movie: in 2021, Ben played one of the main characters, Seb in the mystery thriller drama “The Voyeurs”, written and directed by Michael Mohan, and which also starred Sydney Sweeney and Justice Smith. It follows Thomas and Pippa who’ve moved into a new apartment, and have realized that, from their windows, they can see everything going on in the opposite apartment; the movie was nominated for a Guild of Music Supervisors Award for Best Music Supervision for Television Movie.

Ben received special thanks for the 2018 episode “Apocalypse” of the short mini-series “X-Men Mondays”.

He’s been featured in a number of documentaries, such as the 2016 video “X-Men: Apocalypse Unearthed”, and the 2019 short videos “Bohemian Rhapsody: The Look and Sound of Queen”, and “Bohemian Rhapsody: Recreating Live Aid”.

Some of the talk-shows in which Ben’s made a guest appearance include “Lorrain”, “Martin & Roman’s Weekend Best!”, and “Hollywood Insider”.

Ben and his colleagues were nominated for a 2017 Kids’ Choice Blimp Award for #SQUAD, for their performance in “X-Men: Apocalypse”, and he and his other colleagues were nominated for an Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture Award at the 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards, for “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

Love life and girlfriend

Ben rarely speaks about his past and present relationships in public, which has made some of his fans believe that he’s either gay or bisexual, however, it’s still widely known that he was in a long-term relationship with American actress Katriona Perrett, who appeared in the 2006 short film “Wallflower” and the 2012 romantic comedy movie “Just Ate”; the two were together from 2010 to 2018.

Since September 2021, he’s been dating American actress Jessica Plummer, who has seven acting credits to her name, and is perhaps best known for her playing of one of the main characters, Emma in the 2021 romantic thriller mini-series “The Girl Before”; Jessica has a daughter Noa Lily from a former relationship.

Ben hasn’t mentioned other women whom he’s been with, and is dating Jessica Plummer as of November 2022, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Interesting facts and hobbies

Ben’s revealed that he doesn’t enjoy shooting for movies and TV series topless, and has stated that many scenes in which he was topless in “EastEnders” didn’t really need to be shot that way.

He’s passionate about theatre, and would be okay with permanently switching to the live stage.

Ben’s a huge fan of actors Bradley Cooper, Ryan Gosling and Tom Hardy, and has revealed that he’d probably blush in their presence; some of his favorite movies are “Nightmare Alley”, “Aloha” and “American Sniper”.

He works out at the gym on a daily basis, thus his muscular body.

Ben’s followed by over a million people on Instagram, and has posted close to 250 pictures and videos, with most of these showing him spending time with his friends.

He’s a dog-lover, and has uploaded many ‘dog selfies’ onto his Instagram account.
