One of the favorite television shows in the ‘70s and ‘80s was the family drama “Little House on the Prairie”, starring Michael Landon, Melissa Gilbert and Karen Grassle. The adventures and life of the Ingalls family would be incomplete without Carrie Ingalls, a little girl with a wild imagination.
Lindsay Greenbush played the role of Carrie, a combined (alternating) role that her twin sister, Sidney played with her. From 1974 through 1982, Lindsay and her sister were seen in 182 episodes of the series, which had 42 award nominations, and won 17, including four Primetime Emmys. Lindsay was nominated for the Photoplay Award for Favorite Child Star in 1977.
Early life, family, and education
Born Rachel Lindsay Rene Bush (three minutes before her twin sister) on 25 May 1970, Lindsay is today aged 52. She is a native of Los Angeles, California USA, thus holds American nationality, and comes from a family of Caucasian descent.
Her mother, Carole Kay Bush, is only known as the mother of the famous actresses, and the wife of the exceptional character actor Billy Green Bush, who is probably still known best for his role as Trooper Donner in the 1986 movie “The Hitcher”.
Besides her twin sister, Lindsay has an older brother, Clay, also an actor, whose first movie appearance was in the 1970 movie “Five Easy Pieces” in which his father starred opposite Jack Nicholson. Clay was a baby which Nicholson held him in his arms.
Speaking of Lindsay’s educational background, she attended Santa Monica High School, and upon matriculating in 1988, enrolled at California State Lutheran University, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Science (Accountancy) in 1992.
Acting career
Lindsay made her acting debut portraying Jill Hayden in the 1973 movie “Sunshine”, a biographical drama about a woman who after she discovers that she’s dying of cancer began recording tapes, to leave something precious for her young daughter. The stars of the movie were Meg Foster, Cristina Raines and Cliff de Young, and although it had no nominations, this drama was well-rated by the audience.
As mentioned, from 1974 through 1982, Lindsey starred as Carrie Ingalls in “Little House on the Prairie”. This long-running drama was loosely based on the series of books “Little House” by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and follows the story of her simple farm upbringing in Plum Creek.
An interesting fact about Lindsey’s and her sister’s role is that in the episode “The Godsister” both girls were featured together playing different characters. Another character was Alyssa, an imaginary sister, whom Carrie believed was real. Her father explained to her that Alyssa was her imagination, and that she made her up out of loneliness.

Concurrently, Lindsay reprised her role as Carrie Ingalls in the 1979 movie “Little House Years”, which was a Thanksgiving clip show about struggling during a family gathering.
On 10 May 1982, Lindsay made her final appearance in the show, and the reason for the absence of her character was explained by the family moving to Iowa. The series was canceled a few months later.
The twin sisters, Lindsey and Sidney were seen in numerous TV commercials for popular brands such as Kentucky Fried Chicken, Doublemint gum, and Mattel Toys.
In 1983, Lindsay made an appearance in an episode of the series “Matt Houston”, a mystery crime-drama, and she portrayed a girl named Butterfly, who was an abuse victim.
This was Lindsey’s last role before she decided to quit acting and continue her high school studies at a public school. She said that it was hard to keep up with the material at school since they were filming every day. Michael Landon, who was also a director of the series, was quite demanding, and Lindsay said that the shooting was rarely fun. Both her sister and she were afraid to make a mistake during the scene.

What happened to her? Where is Lindsay now?
After she graduated from college, Lindsay worked at a ski resort, in Taos, New Mexico, from 1993 through 1995, and there met a man with whom she has a daughter, Katlynn Danae – to date, the name of this man hasn’t been revealed.
According to her Internet Movie Database (IMDb) profile, Lindsay married Frank Dornan in 2001, whom she met in 1999 after returning to California from New Mexico. They met through a mutual friend, hit it off, and began dating. Although Frank accepted Katlynn as his own daughter, this marriage didn’t last. It is unclear when the two divorced, however, in one of her rare interviews, Lindsay said that she’s raising her daughter as a single mother, which many realized as her way of saying that she’s divorced.
Lindsay established her Twitter account on December 2013, and her fans were happy that they could finally keep track of her life and work. She shared that she’s working as a horse trainer in Simi Valley, California and that she’s remarried.
Second marriage
Back in 1977, a young boy named Daniel ‘Danny’ Sanchez came on the set of the series “Little House on the Prairie” and while Lindsay was resting, he approached her. They talked, and she found out that he lived nearby, but never saw him again, although she wanted.
Daniel and Lindsay met again thirty years later, and it seems that this was fate. The two fell in love, began dating, and married on 5 July 2014, with the wedding ceremony held under the same oak tree where they first met.
As of December 2022, the two are still together, and have a son whose name hasn’t been disclosed.
There are some photos on her Twitter featuring the two of them riding motorcycles, and it seems that they both enjoy this sport. Lindsey once tweeted that her life changed when Daniel re-entered her life. It was on their second wedding anniversary, and among other heart-touching words, Lindsey said that Daniel enriches her soul.

According to sources, Lindsay’s salary while she was acting in “Little House on the Prairie” was $23 in residuals, during reruns. Since she withdrew from public life for a long period, there is no info about her income.
