James Burton ‘J. B.’ Mauney was born in Charlotte, North Carolina USA on 9 January 1987 – his zodiac sign is Capricorn, and he holds American nationality. He specializes in bull riding, and has spent the majority of his career competing in the championships organized by the international bull riding organization Professional Bull Riders (PBR).
J.B. was raised in Charlotte alongside his sister Jessi Proctor, by their parents Tim and Lynne Mauney; nothing else is known about his family, as J. B. respects their privacy. He became interested in bull riding at a quite an early age, partly because his father enjoyed watching the rodeo sport on TV. J.B. studied at a local high school, and upon matriculating in 2005 didn’t enroll at college, but joined PBR instead (against his parents’ wishes).
In the first year of his competing, he won the 2006 Rookie of the Year Award.
J.B. is one of only two professional bull riders who managed to stay on the now-retired bucking bull Bushwacker for the required eight seconds during the Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS); only one other person had managed to stay on the bull for eight seconds during the entirety of the bull’s career.
