Haslem grew up in Miami, along with his brother. His mother struggled with drug addiction and the boys were raised by their stepmother Barbara Wooten. He attended Wolfson High School in Jacksonville, Florida, and Miami Senior High School joining the basketball team under the coach Frank Martin, and leading the team to the state championships in 1997 and 1998. However, due to Haslem and several other players violating residency requirements, the team was unable to take the 1998 championship title.

He later enrolled at the University of Florida, in Gainesville, majoring in leisure service management and joining the Florida Gators basketball team under the coach Billy Donovan. As the starting center for the Gators, Haslem helped the team to the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship game in his sophomore year, and was part of four Florida Gators NCAA tournament teams. He became the third player in team’s history to score a total of 1,782 points, and tenth player to make 831 rebounds.

In 2002 Haslem was drafted by the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA, however, as he gained too much weight, the team dismissed him, which resulted in his signing with the French professional team Chalon-Sur-Saône. While in France, Haslem averaged 16.1 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. His net worth was at its start.

By losing 70 pounds that year, the player earned a position in the NBA summer league. In 2003 he signed with the Miami Heat as an undrafted rookie, being named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in his first season, and awarded the position of starting power forward in 2004. In 2006 Haslem was ejected from a first-round playoff game against the Chicago Bulls, after throwing his mouth guard at a referee. However, later that year he led the Heat in the NBA Championship against the Dallas Mavericks. His net worth was rising steadily.

In 2012 he helped the Heat to win their second championship, against the Oklahoma City Thunder, and became the team’s all-time leader in total rebounds with 4,808, being the first undrafted player in the history of NBA to set a franchise rebounding record. The following year he helped the team to win its third championship against the San Antonio Spurs. However, in 2014 he became a free agent, but later that year the Heat signed him to a two-year, $5.59 million contract. The three-time NBA champion also resigned with the team in 2016. All contributed to his wealth.

Aside from his basketball career, Haslem has been involved in the entertainment industry. He appeared in Flo Rida’s music video for the song “GDFR”, and was heard on the music video “Bet That” by Trick Daddy featuring Chamillionaire and Gold Ru$h.

When it comes to his private life, Haslem has been married to a New York City’s sports broadcaster Faith Rein since 2013. The couple has three children.
