Shortly after his birth Lee’s family relocated to California, where he later attended South Hills High School and Royal Oak High School. Influenced by such bands as Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Kiss and Eddie Van Halen, Tommy Lee decided to dedicate his life to music. One of the bands that Tommy Lee joined as a teenager was called “Suite 19”, which at the time achieved moderate success. Shortly afterwards, Lee met Nikki Sixx, who encouraged him to create a band, which was later joined by Mick Mars and Vince Neil. Even though Tommy Lee is best known as a drummer for Motley Crue, he has also led a quite successful solo career, plus he went on to create two more bands, namely “Methods of Mayhem” and “Rock Star Supernova”, and began collaborating with such artists as Rob Zombie and Trent Reznor’s “Nine Inch Nails”.

However, considered to be among the best-selling bands of all time, Mötley Crüe has sold more than 100 million albums during their career, and produced such popular singles as “Home Sweet Home”, “Kickstart My Heart”, “Girls, Girls, Girls” and “Wild Side” to name a few. The band debuted in the music industry in 1981, with the release of their first studio album entitled “Too Fast for Love”. The band received more commercial success with the release of “Girls, Girls, Girls”, their fourth studio attempt, which produced such singles as “Wild Side” and “You’re All I Need”. The album was received well by both the critics and the audience, which showed when it peaked shortly after its release at #2 spot on the Billboard charts. The album proved to be so successful that it was later certified four times Platinum by the RIAA.

From 1992 until 2003, the band went through many issues, including conflicts with their record label, as well as changes within the group, which brought them to an artistic halt. Mötley Crüe renewed their success in 2004, when they came out with an anthology album entitled “Red, White & Crue”, which featured such singles as “If I Die Tomorrow” and “Sick Love Song”. The band ultimately released nine studio albums, the last being “Saints of Los Angeles” in 2008, although a “Greatest Hits” album came out in 2009, and the live “The End – Live in Los Angeles” in 2016, after they had disbanded.

In his personal life, Tommy Lee has been married three times. Firstly to Elaine Starchuk (1984-85), then to actress Heather Locklear (1986-93). He thirdly married actress Pamela Anderson in 1995 after a whirlwind romance, and their on-off relationship continued until 2008 – including a divorce in 1998, and Tommy spending time in jail after assaulting her, not the only time he has been involved in physical confrontations. They are the parents of two sons. Controversy over a stolen tape of their sexual activities eventually resulted in the tape being sold, to the mutual benefit of themselves and purchasers Internet Entertainment Group.

In 2014 Tommy Lee announced his engagement to singer Sofia Toufa, but recently it was called off, because he stated to date internet personality Brittany Furlan.
