He went to the all-male Catholic preparatory school Donhead, but after being diagnosed with dyslexia he was sent with his brother to Wimbledon College. At the time, he also briefly attended carpentry school in Cardiff, Wales. Upon matriculation, he obtained his degree from the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology.

Career Beginnings

Tom Holland started dancing at Nifty Feet Dance School in Wimbledon in a hip hop class. While performing at the 2006 Richmond Dance Festival, he was spotted by a choreographer who worked on “Billy Elliot the Musical”, and arranged for him to audition for a role in the musical.

He booked the part of the title character’s best friend, Michael Caffrey, and made his West End debut after two years of training in 2008. Later that year, he was upgraded to play the title role, which he did until 2010.
