Travis Landon Barker was born on 14 November 1975, in Fontana, California USA. He’s the youngest of three, the only male child. Of English, Italian and Irish ancestry, Travis got his first drum kit when he was just four years old and started taking lessons when he was five.
Before high school, Travis also learned to play trumpet and piano, and while in Fontana High School he played the drums with the jazz ensemble, and snare drum in the marching band. After high school, he worked as a trash man in Laguna Beach and played with several bands including Snot and Feeble, through which he met and with whom he would play in the ska-punk group the Aquabats. They recorded their debut album “The Fury of the Aquabats!” in 1997, after which the band went on a tour with San Diego-based group Blink-182. Travis caught the eyes of the Blink-182 members and when their drummer announced his departure, they named Travis as his replacement.
At first he played occasionally with the band, but as they realized his perfection, Travis was announced as the full-time member, and his first studio work with the band was “Enema of the State” in 1999. Luckily, he recovered completely and later filed a lawsuit against the plane’s owners, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co, and an airplane maintenance company. The lawsuit was settled out of court, but Travis never revealed the details. Blink-182 reunited in 2009 and have since then released three studio albums – “Neighborhoods” (2011), “California” (2016), and “Nine” (2019). Moreover, Travis released his solo album “Give the Drummer Some” in 2011, and has recently worked with Machine Gun Kelley and the band Atreyu.
