Who is Chris Bumstead?

Christopher Adam ‘Chris’ Bumstead is an International Federation of BodyBuilding and Fitness (IFBB) professional bodybuilder, often referred to by his monikers ‘CBum’ or ‘Daddy CBum’, and is the reigning Mr. Olympia Classic Physique winner, in 2019, ’20 and ’21.

He maintains a large online presence with content focused on his bodybuilding and lifestyle, so as of today, his Instagram account has been followed by nearly nine million people. The army of his fans can also keep track of his life and work through his Twitter profile, which has amassed nearly 70,000 followers, and he’s also launched his self-titled YouTube channel, which is subscribed to by nearly two million people.

Early life and education

Chris Bumstead was born under the zodiac sign of Aquarius on 2 February 1995, in Ottawa, Ontario Canada, thus he holds Canadian nationality, and his ethnicity is White. He was raised in his hometown by his parents, about whom nothing is known since Chris respects their privacy.

Chris had an interest in sports from an early age, and played basketball, football, hockey and baseball, and ran track – he started weightlifting when he was 14. He cited that he looked up to the legendary Tom Platz, and his biggest inspiration was the great Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Career

Chris made his competitive debut in 2014, and two years obtained his IFBB pro card, after winning the 2016 IFBB North American Bodybuilding Championship.

In the following years, he was the runner-up in the 2017 and ’18 Mr. Olympia, the title awarded to the winner of the professional men’s bodybuilding contest at Joe Weider’s Olympia Fitness & Performance Weekend, which is an international bodybuilding competition held annually by the IFBB. Chris rose to international fame in 2019, by winning the contest, and he reached the top of the podium again in 2020 and 2021.

As a current reigning champion in Men’s Classic Physique, Chris became an idol for young boys dreaming of a bodybuilding career, thus he often shares his workout regimes.

For example, his leg workout consists of Barbell squats – 415lbs (188kgs), barbell walking lunges – 135lbs (60kgs) superset with w/bodyweight walking lunges, the machine donkey calf raises, and hamstring curls, and one of his arm and shoulder workouts consists of triceps rope pushdowns, seated dumbbell shoulder press – 240lbs (108kgs) drop set w/ 180lbs (81kgs), machine preacher curl, dumbbell lateral raises, seated machine shoulder press (neutral grip), seated dumbbells biceps curls, cable overhead triceps rope extensions superset w/ cable rope hammer curls – all these are just a small part of his bodybuilding workout.

After he was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease, IgA nephropathy – a kidney disease that occurs when IgA deposits build up in the kidneys, causing inflammation that damages kidney tissues – Chris has taken his health and nutrition even more seriously, he cares about his meals and diet, and you can see how his diet looks on his YouTube channel. In January 2022, Chris posted a video in which he shared with his fans that he had COVID during Christmas, and he also discussed his mindset post-competition, and how to recover, plus his first day back in the gym after recovering from illness.

In May 2022, he posted a video featuring an entire day’s worth of eating, which is a part of his 5,000 calorie-plus diet, as he prepares for the 2022 Mr. Olympia contest, which will be held on 15-18 December in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Love life and relationships

There have been various rumors concerning both Chris’ love life and his sexual orientation, however, in November 2018, Chris revealed his relationship with his now-girlfriend, Courtney King. The two met after she made a video of two Mr. Olympia competitors, one of whom happened to be Chris, and soon they started dating.

Kourtney is a Chicago, USA native, born under the zodiac sign of Virgo on 13 September 1993, which makes her aged 28, and she grew up with a keen interest in sports; she played soccer, and basketball and was a member of the swimming team. She is now also a bodybuilder, fitness trainer, and bikini model.

The couple often share their joint photos on their Instagram accounts, and seem to be happy love birds, supporting each other.
