Who is Marc Clotet?
Marc Clotet Fresquet was born in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, on 29 April 1980 – his zodiac sign is Taurus, and he holds Spanish nationality. He’s an actor with close to 30 credits to his name, while he’s perhaps known best for his portrayal of the main character Diego Padilla, in the 2017 historical war movie “The Chessplayer” (original “El Jugador de Ajedrez”), directed by Luis Oliveros, and which also starred Melina Matthews and Alejo Sauras. It follows Diego Padilla who won the Spanish Championship of Chess in 1934, and then fell in love with the French journalist Marianne Latour, who gave birth to their daughter. She convinced Diego to move with her to France, where he was accused of being a spy and sent to a prison; the movie won 16 of the 20 awards for which it was nominated.

Early life and education
Marc was raised in Barcelona alongside his sister Aina Clotet, by their parents Anna Fresquet, a clinical research director at ESTEVE Lab, and Bonaventura Clotet who’s a physician.
Mark grew up being interested in both modelling and acting, but was also into sports during the four years he spent at high school. He was a member of his school’s soccer team, and dreamed about going professional, however, after his drama teacher cast him to appear in a school play, Marc fell in love with acting, and eventually chose to pursue that as a career instead of soccer.
He launched his acting career in 1997, with his portrayal of Excursionista in the episode “Edats Perilloses” of the drama series “Estació D’enllaç”. The same year saw him appear in the episode “Bajo Un Cerezo en Flor” of the comedy series “Tocao del Ala”, but Marc then focused on his education, and didn’t take another role for the following ten years. He matriculated in 1998, and enrolled at Ramon Llull University in Barcelona, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2002.
Modelling career
After finishing college, Marc launched his modelling career, and gained recognition after he was featured in the Spanish magazine “Showdown”. He occasionally attended acting auditions, and it wasn’t until 2008 that he returned to acting.
Roles in TV series
Marc was first cast to play the supporting character Pau Montaner, in the popular action crime adventure “El Comisario”, which starred Tito Valverde, Juanjo Artero and Marcial Alvarez. It follows Chief Castilla and his officers at San Fernando police station in Madrid; the series aired from 1999 to 2009, and won five of the 21 awards for which it was nominated.
In 2009, Marc played Alex in all the 13 episodes of the comedy “AD – Els Abans de Deu”, and he also starred as Iago in 65 episodes of the drama “El Cor de la Ciutat”. From 2009 to 2011, he played Vaquero, in the comedy drama “Physics or Chemistry”, created by Carlos Montero, and which starred Ana Milan, Andrea Duro and Javier Calvo. It follows the lives of several teenagers as they’re dealing with their sexuality, sex and drugs.
A couple of Marc’s following roles were in two episodes of the 2012 drama mini-series “Gernika Bajo las Bombas”, 37 episodes of the action adventure drama “Amar en Tiempos Revueltos” in 2013, and 13 episodes of the action crime adventure “El Caso. Crónica de Sucesos” in 2016.

In 2011, we saw Marc star as Princep Formos, in the comedy drama “Mil Cretins”, written and directed by Ventura Pons, and which also starred Jordi Bosch and Alix Albaraeda.
The movie tells 15 stories about human stupidity, love and old age, and was nominated for three awards. In the same year, Marc played Paulino in the war drama “The Sleeping Voice”, which won 14 of the 31 awards for which it was nominated.
A couple of his following roles were in the 2012 short drama “Cicatrices”, the 2013 romantic comedy drama “La Estrella”, and the 2014 drama “L’últim Ball de Carmen Amaya”.
In 2015, he was cast to star as Juan Ramon Jimenez Joven, in the biographical drama “La Luz con el Tiempo Dentro”, directed by Antonio Gonzalo, and which also starred Carlos Alvarez-Novoa and Tamara Arias.

Love life and marriage with Ana de Armas
In July 2011, Marc exchanged vows with Ana Celia de Armas Caso, who’s perhaps known best for her portrayal of Joi, one of the main characters in the critically acclaimed 2017 action mystery movie “Blade Runner 2049”, which also starred Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling; the movie won 101 award, including two Oscars, while it was nominated for 158 other awards. Ana has appeared in more than 30 movies and TV series, and has won four of the 26 awards for which she has been nominated, while her net worth has been estimated at more than $4 million.
Marc and Ana divorced in 2013 for unknown reasons, but it’s believed that it was because he wanted children, while she wanted to focus on her career.
Only a couple of months after their divorce was finalized, Marc began dating the Spanish actress and singer Natalia Sanchez Molina, who gave birth to their daughter Lia Clotet Sanchez on 8 January 2019, and on 19 May 2020 to their son Neo Clotet Sanchez. There are rumors circulating the internet claiming that Marc and Natalia are planning to marry, which haven’t been confirmed.
As of September 2021, Marc’s in a relationship with Natalia Sanchez Molina, and with whom he has two children, and was married to Ana de Armas.
Hobbies and other interests
Marc enjoys being physically active, and has a couple of training sessions at the gym each week, while he also enjoys outdoor activities, such as rock climbing and hiking.
Summer is his favorite season, as he enjoys being close to the sea, swimming in it, and playing beach sports. His Instagram account is filled with pictures which feature him shirtless, as Marc likes to show off his body.
He’s a huge dog-lover, and his pet dog can be seen featured in many of his Instagram pictures.
Marc loves to travel, and has recently purchased a Mercedes camper, and travelled around Spain with his wife and their two children.
