Ted Price was born on 5 July 1968 in Richmond, Virginia USA, and is best known as a president and CEO of Insomniac Games. In addition, he is an independent game developer, having provided several single player and multi-player hit games.

Even as a child, Ted was eager to work in the game development industry, being influenced by the Atari games. He attended St. Christopher’s School in Richmond, Virginia and enrolled into Princeton University afterwards. Prior to his career as a game developer, Price worked as a controller for a medical company, however, having realized that he wanted to pursue a different career, he left the job, and in 1994 teamed-up with his college friend Alex Hastings, in the same year establishing Insomniac; the original name of the company was Xtreme Software, but Price renamed it, and was responsible for directing and organizing company’s business strategy and future projects. The first Insomniac game was released in 1996 and entitled ‘’Disruptor’’, made for Playstation. It was a single player game and received a positive response averaging 82% at IGN. Despite the good rating, the game didn’t do well when it came to commercial promotions and selling, which almost bankrupted the company. In 1998, the latest Insomniac project was ‘’Spyro the Dragon’’, which had two sequels and was published by Sony Computer Entertainment. ‘’Spyro the Dragon’’ received positive reviews from the critics and holds a score of 85% on GameRankings – the game had notably good graphics for the time it was released.

In November 2002, Price’s company released ‘’Ratchet & Clank’’ for the Playstation 2, and created several sequels of the game including ‘’Going Commando’’ and ‘’Up Your Arsenal’’, in 2003 and 2004 respectively. In addition to that, the game was re-released in several editions, with the latest one being published in April 2016. As of 2006, Insomniac worked on ‘’Resistance: Fall of Man’’; the game was created for both single- and multi-player and its sequel, ‘’Resistance 2’’ was well received by the critics and is one of the most successful Insomniac games up to this date, being rated a five out of five stars. Its sequel ‘’Resistance 3’’ was released in September 2010.

In 2012, Ted’s company created ‘’Outernauts’’, a social role-playing video game was made for Facebook. However, the game was shut down due to the lack of players. In 2014, the ‘’Sunset Overdrive’’, an open world third-person shooter video game was created, which holds a score of 83% on Game Rankings. As of the most recent past, the company has been working on ‘’Spider-Man’’ game for the Playstation 4, scheduled for release in 2018. Insomniac was named one of the ‘’ 50 Best Small & Medium Sized Companies to Work for in America’’ taking a position in the top 25.

Price’s firm also won ‘’Best Workplace’’ awards. Overall, Insomniac Games sold over 44 million game units.

In 2016, Ted wrote the book entitled ‘’Beat College Admissions’’, dedicated to providing future students with necessary information on how to successfully enroll into the desired college.
