Summer Elisabeth Sanders was born on 13 October 1972, in Roseville, California USA, and is a retired competitive swimmer, best known for being an Olympic champion in the 1992 Olympics. Since retirement Summer has been working variously as an actress, television show host, reporter and sports commentator, all of which have helped put her net worth to where it is today.

At a young age, Summer already knew how to swim; she joined the swimming program of Sugar Bears, and was coached for competitive swimming, and later on would attend the Sierra Aquatic Club.

She was educated at Cavitt Junior High School and Oakmond High School, meantime in 1988, she just missed a spot on the US Olympic Team, but drew the attention of many thanks to her podium finishes. In 1991, she won the 400 meter individual medley at the Pan Pacific Championships, and would enroll at Stanford University, and train under Hall of Famer coach Richard Quick. In two seasons at college, she would win eight NCAA Championship titles, and help the Cardinals win the 1992 NCAA national Championships; personally she won the Honda Sports Award for swimming and diving during that year. She also won three medals during the 1991 World Championships in Perth, Australia – gold in the 200 meter butterfly. She was selected for the Barcelona 1992 US Olympic team, winning four medals including gold in the 200-meter butterfly in world record time, and another gold as a member of the 400 meter medley relay, plus silver in the 200 metre medley and bronze in the 400 metre medley events.

During the end of her competitive swimming career, Sanders started to work on television. She became a commentator for CBS Sports and would spend many years there, covering swimming events.

She was also an Olympic analyst and host for NBC in the next several Olympic Games, and her net worth continued to increase as she became a contributor and on-site reporter for a variety of sports events. Aside from covering swimming and Olympics, she was a co-host of the “NBA Inside Stuff” for eight years, and was also a feature correspondent for “NBA on NBC”. In 1997, she was the host of the Nickelodeon game show “Figure it Out”, and six years later would host “Beg, Borrow & Deal”. In 2004, she became the host of “The Sports List” before co-hosting the reality series “Skating with Celebrities” two years later.

In 2009, Summer then hosted her own show, called “Inside Out with Summer Sanders” which was produced by Universal Sports. During this time, she was also a general correspondent for “Rachael Ray” and “Good Morning America’. During the third season of “Celebrity Apprentice”, she competed to support a charity, and then also participated in the reality series “Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off’. A few of her latest projects include hosting the “Elite Athlete Workouts and the game show “Keywords” for HLN.

For her personal life, it is known that Sanders married Olympic swimmer Mark Henderson in 1997 but they divorced after four years. Since 2005 she has been married to World Cup skier Erik Schlopy, and they have two children. Sanders is a fan of the National Football League team, the Buffalo Bills.
