He was born on 2 April 1962, in Boston, Massachusetts, and by the age of 17 had lived in seven cities, because his family moved frequently due to his father’s occupation as an Episcopal priest and professor. Clark attended Chapel Hill High School, in North Carolina, and upon matriculating in 1980, he enrolled at Ohio Wesleyan University, however, two years later he moved to Manhattan, New York, where he attended the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English and Drama, in 1986.
Clark made his acting debut in 1988, portraying Stage Manager in the movie “Things Change”, while he made his first television appearance as Patrick Dune in “Law & Order”, in 1991; as of early 2022, he has approaching 100 acting credits to his name.
Stella’s mother is Jennifer Grey, an actress who earned worldwide fame from starring in the epic romantic drama “Dirty Dancing” alongside Patrick Swayze. Stella made her acting debut in 2013, portraying Charlotte in the movie “Trust Me”, which was written and directed by her father, Clark Gregg, who starred in it with Allison Janney and Felicity Huffman.
It was a comedy drama which follows a story about a former child star who is now an agent for child actors, struggling to close the deal of a lifetime with brilliant, talented teenager, Lydia.
After her role in “Trust Me”, Stella made her first appearance on television in the episode “Identity and Change” of the series “Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D.”, starring her father Clark, Brett Dalton and Ming-Na Wen. This action adventure drama series about the missions of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division, had 48 award nominations, including two for Primetime Emmys, and six wins.
