Sean Murray launched his professional acting career in 1991, when he started auditioning for various roles, and eventually made his debut appearance as Joe Jr. in the made-for-TV comedy film “Backfield In Motion”, which premiered on ABC and was directed by Richard Michaels. The following year, he made a guest appearance as Chris Conway in an episode of the ABC legal drama series “Civil Wars”, and collaborated with Todd Field on his short drama film “Too Romantic”, in which he played Tim.
Rise to Prominence
In 1993, Sean Murray played Jimmy Voorhees in the biographical coming-of-age drama film “This Boy’s Life”, next to Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio, and starred as Thackery in the fantasy comedy horror film “Hocus Pocus”, which earned him a Young Artist Award nomination for Best Youth Actor Leading Role in a Motion Picture Comedy. He then landed his breakthrough role of Zane Grey Hart in the CBS Western series “Harts Of The West”, that lasted through 1993 and ‘94.
