Rydel Lynch is an American musician, keyboardist, singer and actress, probably best known to the world as a member of the pop-rock band R5, comprised also of her brothers Riker, Rocky, Ross, and their mutual friend Ellington Ratliff.

From an early age, she turned to performing arts, and started playing piano and the tambourine, as well as enrolling in dance lessons. Her second cousins are professional dancers Derek Hough and his sister Julianne Hough.
Career Beginnings
Interested in music from an early age, her efforts were awarded in 2009 when together with her brothers she formed the pop-rock band R5. Joined by family friend Ellington Ratliff, they started making music and documenting their day-to-day activities on their official YouTube web series “R5TV”.
In September 2009, the band released their first music video for the song “Without You”, while in March the following year they produced their debut five-track extended play (EP) “Ready Set Rock”.
Gradually, they were improving, and two years later the band had their first professional contract on the table, signing with Hollywood Records, and embarking on a 10-day West Coast Tour. During these performances, Rydel didn’t just showcase her skills as a keyboardist, but also as a singer, regularly performing Carly Rae Jepsen’s single “Call Me Maybe”. This tour was followed by the East Coast Tour, coinciding with their first release for Hollywood Records, the four-song EP “Loud” released on 19 February 2013.
They continued to make new music, and on 24 September 2013, the band released their debut album “Louder”.
Rise to Prominence
Rydel and the whole band were gaining in popularity, and embarking on a 50-date tour across the entire US, then in 2014, the band went on a world tour which started in Warsaw, Poland, with performances in such European countries as Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, Italy, Belgium, and England, plus Israel, among others.
The next official release was their third EP “Heart Made Up on You” in July 2014, while in 2015, the band released their second and for now latest album “Sometime Last Night”, followed in 2017 by their fifth EP “New Addictions”. Since then, the band has gone on an hiatus and hasn’t returned to the studio. Instead, Ross and Rocky Lynch formed the new band The Driver Era, while Rydel serves as a backing vocalist and keyboardist on tours. So far, the newly formed band has two studio albums – “X” (2019), and “Girlfriend” (2021) – while there’s no news about R5 reforming in the near future.
Acting Career
In addition to a prominent career as a musician, Rydel has also showcased her acting talents. She started her acting career by appearing in commercials, including for Sears next to Vanessa Hudgens in 2008, and the same year she featured in the film “Sunday School Musical”. In 2009 she was a Cheerleader in the film “School Gyrls”, then once her music career took off, she became focused on showcasing her acting talents in music videos she filmed with the band. In 2018, she returned as an actress with the role of Jill, The Bartender in the romantic comedy film “Colossal Youth”. Most recently, she appeared in the short film “Aliens on Halloween”.
