Ryan Giggs – he changed his name to his mother’s maiden name – is a well-known and enormously respected Welsh football player and coach as, in terms of acheivements on the football pitch, he is the most decorated player in Welsh amd English football history.

So just how rich is Ryan Giggs? Sources estimate that the overall amount of Ryan Giggs’ net worth is over $60 million, virtually all accumulated during his professional football career over more than 20 years both as a player and more recently as a coach.

Ryan Giggs Net Worth $60 Million

Ryan Giggs was born to parents Lynne Giggs and rugby union player Danny Wilson. As a child footballer he playedg for Salford Boys, later captaining the team to victory in the Lancashire Schools cup competition. He subsequently captained the England schoolboy team. He had been watched by both Manchester City and Manchester United club ‘scouts’, but signed with the latter initially as a schoolboy in 1987, turning professional in 1990 on his 17th birthday.

Ryan Giggs opened his net worth account that year, and he played for Manchester United solely until final retirement as a player in 2014. Ryan is usually described as a tireless runner and creator of goals for his team-mates to actually score, but despite not being a consistent, spectacular goal-scorer, has nevertheless been an invaluable part of the most successful Premier League club since the inception of the league. Throughout his long career in football team, Giggs increased his net worth by playing consistently and in the process setting a number of records. Ryan Giggs made 611 Premier League appearances over 22 seasons, plus another 61 in other competitions. He won 13 Premier League championship medals, four FA Cup winner’s medals, three League Cup winner’s medals, and perhaps most importantly two European Champions League winner’s medals. He has two Champions League, runner-up medals, three from FA Cup finals and two from League Cup finals, as well as being part of the team five times when it finished second in the Premier League. His tally of 114 goals is more impressive as they span 24 seasons, including scoring in 17 different Champions League tournaments. His net worth is reflective of his actual worth to the team, and would possibly have been higher if he was to begin his career now.

Ryan Giggs net worth also rose after every time he represented a national team. He played for the Wales national under-19 football team competing in UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship in 1989, the Wales national under-21 football team in 1991, and the Wales national football team from 1991 to 2007 scoring 12 goals throughout that time, and for the Great Britain Olympic football team in 2012, also scorking a goal.

Giggs net worth has increased further after receiving honours too, for his lifetime achievements including the BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 2009, the Golden Foot in 2011, and being inducted into the Football Hall of Fame. He was elected into the PFA Team of the Century in 2007, the Premier League of the Decade in 2003, as well as the FA Cup Team of the Century. In 2011, Giggs was named Manchester United’s greatest ever player by a worldwide poll conducted by United’s official magazine and website. The same day he retired as a footballer he was named interim player-manager of Manchester United, later he took the position of assistant of the same team. At present, he is working as the Manchester United assistant manager, and co-owns a semi-professional football team Salford City. These are the main sources of  Ryan’s current additions to his net worth.

In his personal life, after an alleged long affair with his brother’s wife, Ryan Giggs married Stacey Cooke in 2007. They have two children. Ryan Giggs is the Ambassador of UNICEF UK.
