During his college days, Jaworski was an exceptional quarterback and was selected to the Senior Bowl.

The Los Angeles Rams selected him in the second round of the 1973 NFL Draft, but mostly used him as the third quarterback behind John Hadl and James Harris, although with reasonable playing time while they were injured in the 1975 season. However, he lost his starting job to Pat Haden in 1976, and was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in 1977 in exchange for All-Pro tight end Charlie Young. During his 17 seasons in the NFL, Jaworski recorded 179 touchdown passes and 164 interceptions, he threw for 28,190 yards and had 72.8 passer rating. He has been inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame.
