The following season, he set a record by scoring five goals in eight minutes and 59 seconds, the fastest by any player in Bundesliga history; he also set the record for most goals scored by a substitute, and the fastest hat trick in the league. In 2016, he scored another hat trick against Carl Zeiss Jena, and yet another in the team’s 6-0 victory against Werder Bremen. He subsequently signed a new contract with the team, and reached 100 goals in his 137th appearance for the club.

Robert initially played for Poland’s U21 team, and also played during the World Cup as part of the Poland senior team. He scored his first international hat trick in the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier.
For his personal life, it is known that Lewandowski married karate athlete Anna Lewandowska in 2013, and they have a child. His sister is also a professional volleyball player. Robert is a Catholic.
