Richie Sambora attended Woodbridge High School, but had become interested in music earliest than that, beginning by learning the accordian when he was about six years old, and then the guitar when in his early teens. He soon learned to play saxophone, piano and trumpet as well, and was heavily influenced by such artists as The Beatles, Eric Clapton, and Led Zeppelin. He played in minor bands such as Mercy and Message, but Sambora’s step towards real success began in 1983 when he joined the rock band named “Bon Jovi”, a band created by Jon Bon Jovi,  in which he became a lead guitarist after the previous guitarist Dave Sabo was fired. In addition, Sambora occasionally served as a lead singer of some of the band’s songs such as “I’ll Be There for You” and “These Days”. “Bon Jovi” soon received a lot of public recognition, and with the remarkable sales of their albums, significantly increased Sambora’s net worth. Since its creation, the band has released 12 commercially successful albums, the most recent being “What About Now” (2013), an album that peaked at #1 in the United States Billboard 200, and sold 101,000 copies during its first week of release.
