Born Ricardo Andrade Quaresma Bernardo on the 26th September 1983, in Lisbon, Portugal, of part-Romani ancestry, he is a professional soccer player, who currently plays as a winger for the Turkish side Besiktas. Previously, he played for Sporting CP, Barcelona, Porto, Inter Milan and Chelsea.
Have you ever wondered how rich Ricardo Quaresma is, as of early 2018? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Quaresma’s net worth is as high as $40 million, an amount earned through his successful career, during which he won numerous honors, both with clubs and as an individual. His career has been active since 2000.
Ricardo Quaresma Net Worth $40 Million
Ricardo’s interest in soccer appeared when he was young, and as a result he joined the Sporting CP academy in 1997. He spent the next four years in Sporting’s youth system, and became a professional in 2000. Before joining the first squad, Ricardo spent a season in the B squad and played in 15 games but failed to score. He was promoted to the first team, and in his first season wore the Sporting jersey 28 times, and scored three goals in helping to bring the league and cup trophy to the Estádio José Alvalade. Ricardo continued to improve and in the next season scored five goals, but Sporting reached only third place, although Ricardo’s net worth was now well established.
Ricardo wanted out of the club, and so was sold to Barcelona for a €6 million fee and the loan of Fábio Rochemback. In his debut season for his new team, Ricardo played in 22 games and scored one goal before injuring his foot. He decided not to return to Barcelona because of his disagreements with the coach Frank Rijkaard, and as a result, he was sent to Porto in return for Deco, and €15 million cash.
He remained in Porto for the next four years, winning the Primeira Liga three times, the Taça de Portugal once, and the Intercontinental Cup. He also won the Primeira Liga Player of the Year Award for 2006.
Thanks to his successful plays for Porto, Quaresma was sold to Inter Milan for €18.6 million, while Inter sent young Portuguese midfielder Pele to Porto in return. In the preseason games, Ricardo was named a man of the match against Locarno and in his official debut he scored a goal using his trademark move – trivela – against Catania. Unfortunately, between him and Zlatan Ibrahimović, Jose Mourinho chose Ibra over Ricardo and his stint in Italy finished rather poorly with a Bidone d’oro, an award given to the worst player in Serie A.
In February 2009 he was sent on loan to Chelsea, but in just four games played, he failed to score, and returned to Inter. In the 2010-2011 season, Quaresma played in 11 games but again failed to score, and was then sold to Besiktas for €7.3 million, and signed a three-year deal with the Turkish side worth €11 million, which significantly increased his net worth.
In his first season, Ricardo played in 21 games for his new team and was a scorer on three occasions, and in total played 38 games scoring 11 goals along the way, returning to the old days of glory while playing for Sporting and Porto. However, he was released by the club after an altercation between himself and the coach Carlos Carvalhalo; Quaresma was substituted by the coach and said to Carvalhal “you can not remove me from the match because you’re nothing”. He was then suspended and subsequently released by the club with six months remaining on the contract.
He wasn’t long without engagement, however, as he signed with Al-Ahli of the UAE Pro League for which he appeared in 11 games and scored three goals before he returned to Porto for the 2013-2014 season – he was welcomed by more than 10,000 fans, and in his first European match Ricardo scored to start a new spell at the Estádio do Dragão. In the 2013-2014 season, he wore the jersey 24 times and scored 10 goals, while the next season, Quaresma was used 43 times but again scored 10 goals.
For 2015, he rejoined Besiktas, with which he won Super Lig in 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons. He has contributed with six goals in the league for those two seasons, and 11 in total, since Besiktas also played in European competitions and the League Cup.
Aside from his success with clubs, Ricardo has also been successful with the national team; so far, he has appeared in 72 matches and scored 9 goals. He won the UEFA European Championship in 2016 when Portugal beat France 1-0 in overtime.
When it comes to his personal life, Quaresma is married to Daphne with whom he has two children. He also has a child from one of his previous relationships.
