Polizzi was adopted as a baby by Italian-American parents who raised her in Marlboro, New York. There she attended Marlboro High School, later enrolling at a community college, planning to become a veterinary technician.

Polizzi first came to prominence in 2009, appearing in the MTV reality television series “Is She Really Going Out with Him?”. The show portrayed women dating not so great men, and Polizzi was featured with her then boyfriend Justin. Her appearance in the show earned her a decent dose of popularity, and added to her net worth.

Later that year she became part of another reality series on MTV, “Jersey Shore”, portraying the lives of a group of young people living together in Jersey Shore, New Jersey; it quickly achieved great popularity, and Polizzi became its breakout star, and would remain on the show during its six seasons, until 2012. Aside from boosting her fame, the show enabled her to earn significant wealth.

She became the center of attention when she was punched in the face by a drunken man during a bar confrontation in the first season. The video clip of the infamous punch went viral on the internet, and made headlines everywhere in the media; this made “Jersey Shore” famous on a whole new level, and brought Polizzi huge popularity, and boosted her net worth, as her appearance fees rose from $2,000 per event to $10,000 after the video became public. Embracing the fame, Polizzi took opportunities that began to come her way, appearing in a variety of TV shows, such as “Cake Boss” and was a guest in the acclaimed shows such as “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”, “The View” and the “Late Show with David Letterman”. Her popularity also led her to give a speech at New Jersey’s Rutgers University about becoming a celebrity, for which she was paid $32,000. All added to her wealth.

In 2012, Polizzi and her Jersey Shore costar Jennifer Farley, were cast to star in MTV’s reality TV show “Snooki & Jwoww”, a spin-off of “Jersey Shore”, following the lives of the two reality stars as they live together in a Jersey City firehouse. It portrayed Polizzi’s pregnancy, as well as her engagement and marriage to her husband, Jionni LaValle. Reinforcing her popularity and cementing her status of a reality TV star, the show greatly improved her fortune as well. It lasted for four seasons, until 2015.

Polizzi has also earned income by appearing in other shows. In 2012 she took part in the 17th season of the popular dance competition show “Dancing with the Stars”, being partnered with Sasha Farber; they were eliminated in the seventh week, finishing in 8th place. Three years later she appeared as a contestant in the reality game show “The New Celebrity Apprentice”, her involvement in the show being terminated in task 4 in early 2017.

Aside from her television career, Polizzi has also been involved in wrestling. In 2011 she appeared in two episodes of the popular wrestling program “WWE Monday Night Raw”, being a member of winning teams and receiving a WWE 2011 A-Lister of the Year Slammy Award.

That same year saw the release of her two books, “A Shore Thing” and “Confessions of a Guidette”. Her third book, “Gorilla Beach”, came out in 2012, all adding somewhat to her net worth.

In her private life, Polizzi has been married to Jionni LaVille since 2014; they have two children together.
The reality star has been no stranger to controversies outside of reality shows – in 2010 she was arrested in Jersey’s Seaside Heights on public intoxication charges, after she acted in a disorderly manner, disturbing the neighborhood. She was sentenced to a $500 fine and community service.
