Nick Popovich Net Worth $3 million
Nick’s early life including education is devoid of detail, until he started a business in the early 1980s that collects – repossesses – airplanes from people who have fallen behind on payments. He has worked in the field for over three decades, which has increased his net worth significantly. He was then featured by Discovery Channel, becoming part of the reality show “Airplane Repo” alongside Ken Hill. The show started in 2010 with a three episode pilot season, and then there was a two year production hiatus before the full series premiere. The series premiered officially in 2013 with Nick Popovich, Kevin Lacey, and Ken Cage; in one interview Nick mentioned that there are some episodes which are unrealistic, and since the third season, the show has released a disclosure stating that some events have been recaptured with details changed, which explains the use of fixed security cameras in an attempt to duplicate the events using found footage-style cinematography. The second season aired in 2014, and the third in 2015. The show has also been broadcast in Australia.
Nick is the co-owner of the airplane repossession firm Sage-Popovich, Inc. and he has conducted numerous operations from his business base located on a 120-acre ranch near Valparaiso. He is usually hired by banks, and has reported the various dangers he has encountered while doing the work. During the financial crisis of 2008, his business started booming when numerous corporations and individuals stopped payments for their private jets. Thanks to his subsequent appearance on “Airplane Repo”, his net worth has continued to increase, as he’s collected various airplanes from King Airs to 747s. He has subsequently been featured in other shows as well, including on ABC and Nightly News.
He’s also travelled around the world to do repossessions, including to various European countries such as Greece, UK and Turkey. He’s also been to South America, repossessing planes in countries such as Venezuela.
For his personal life, his marital status is unknown. Nick has had a lot of dangerous experiences due to his work. He’s had a gun pointed at him multiple times, and even spent a week in a prison in Haiti when he was assigned to collect a plane during a major political upheaval. He mentions that he doesn’t actually want to repossess airplanes, and usually the planes are only repossessed because the creditors are left with no other choice. He still resides in Valparaiso, Indiana.
