Although born in Orange City, Nick grew up in Fort Dodge and Iowa Falls where he went to Iowa Falls High School, and was a McDonald’s All-American in 1999. He rose to attention when he teamed up with Kirk Hinrich and formed one of the best duos in college basketball. Nick played a big role when Kansas University Jayhawks reached two consecutive Final Fours in 2002 and 2003, and he became the leading scorer in the history of the Big 12 Conference. At the 2002 FIBA World Championship, Collison played for the United States national team, and then led them to winning a gold medal at the 2003 FIBA Americans Championship in San Juan.
