Mook grew up in Harlem, attending Fordham Preparatory School located in The Bronx. During his high-school days, he excelled in basketball, making his name as a star point guard. In 2003 he enrolled at Elms College in Massachusetts on a basketball scholarship. However, he soon shifted his focus from playing basketball to performing in the battle rap arena. He began to write rap lyrics and to build his own style, and soon found himself competing in rap battle stages on the East Coast.

The rapper drew attention already in his first SMACK DVD battle against Jae Millz in 2003, the battle that is still talked about even today. His second battle against Loaded Lux at Total Slaughter stage, organized by Eminem and his Shady Enterprise, only confirmed his status as a rising battle rap star, and it became one of the most legendary battles of SMACK DVD. Mook’s talent led him to became one of the best freestyle MCs in the industry. He eventually became a battle rap legend, nicknamed ‘King of Battle Rap” – his net worth was at its start.

In 2005 he started to compete in Fight Club battles; a Detroit tournament hosted by D12’s Proof followed, and Mook collected five victories in one night. Going undefeated, he became an integral part of Fight Club. In 2007 he put his skills against Serious Jones, the current Fight Club champion, in one of the most famous and highly debated rap battles ever recorded on camera. In 2009 he signed with Ruff Ryder Entertainment label. Being a long-time member of SMACK/URL (Ultimate Rap League) Mook dominated the major rap battles, some of which include his battle against the late Party Arty, Weeze, Iron Solomon, Cardi and a rematch battle against Loaded Lux. All contributed to his wealth.

Even though Mook retired from his battle rap career, he made a special appearance in the battle against Iron Solomon in 2012, improving his net worth by $20,000. This was his last official appearance on SMACK/URL at Summer Madness 2 event.

In 2014, Mook became part of Fuse Network’s reality television series called “Road To Total Slaughter”. It was a new rap battle league created by Eminem’s Shady Films and the rap group Slaughterhouse. The show portrayed battle rappers as they compete against each other, while also living together in the House of Slaughter. Mook served as a mentor to the combatants, along with Loaded Lux.

As of 2015, Mook and rapper Drake have been challenging each other to battle. Reportedly, Drake stated that he will only battle Mook if Mook could defeat another rapper first. However, there hasn’t been an official announcement about the battle yet. Mook has also recently expressed his interest to battle rapper Hollow Da Don.
