Early life and education
Mike was raised alongside his brother J. R. Hill in The Bronx, New York City, by their parents about whom not a lot is known, because Mike respects their privacy; it’s believed that their mother was a piano teacher, and their father a construction worker.
The family moved to Bessemer, Alabama when Mike was around eight years old. He studied at Jess Lanier High School, and was interested in a couple of activities during his four years there, including creative writing, acting with the school’s drama club, and playing soccer.
Mike didn’t enroll at college upon matriculating in 1988, but instead joined the US Air Force as a reservist; he went on to serve as a communications analyst specialist in both the Philippines and Hawaii, and then worked for the National Security Agency in Maryland, USA.
Career as a sportscaster
Mike launched his career on TV in 1995, when he joined WHAG-TV as a sports director, in Hagerstown, Maryland.
He anchored for the first time in the following year, when hired to work at KSEE-TV, a job for which he moved to Fresno, California. Mike then moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1997 and began working for WKRN-TV, spending three years there, during which he was mostly in charge of covering high school football, while he won two Emmy Awards for his skills.

In 2000, he was invited to work in New York City, becoming a host at Fox Sports Net. After two years there, Mike moved to Dallas, Texas, to work for KXAS-TV as their sports anchor.
It was in 2004 that he was invited to become a sports anchor at American international basic cable sports channel ESPN, and he attracted a lot of attention when he and American former football player and current radio and TV broadcaster Mark Fremont Schlereth began hosting their own show – “Hill and Schlereth” – on ESPN Radio. Mike stayed at ESPN for nine years, and could’ve been seen hosting various other shows, such as “Baseball Tonight”, “NFL Life” and “ESPN First Take”.
He joined Fox Sports 1 in August 2013, and began by hosting their shows “Fox Football Daily” and “Fox Sports Live”. Mike started hosting their show “America’s Pregame” on 7 April 2014, and continued until it was cancelled in September 2015. He then started covering BIG3 games on 22 June 2018, and continued until it was taken over by CBS Sports in 2019.
Mike started hosting his show “The Mike and Donny Show” in October 2019, and most recently, between 1 March 2021 and March 2022, he and Sharon Reed co-hosted the show “Start Your Day with Sharon and Mike”, which aired on the Black News Channel.

Love life and wife
Mike’s quite open when it comes to sharing the details of his love life with his fans; his relationship and marriage with Cynthia Bailey’s been highly publicized, partly because she once starred in the reality TV show “Real Housewives of Atlanta”.
Mike and Cynthia haven’t shared many details about how and when they met, but it’s believed that they were introduced by a mutual friend in 2017. They became engaged in July 2019, and exchanged vows on 10 October 2020, in a large ceremony attended by many of their friends and family members.
Cynthia had previously been in a relationship with non-celebrity American Leon Robinson, and gave birth to their daughter Noelle on 9 November 1999. Mike also has two daughters, Kayla and Ashleé from a previous relationship, but nothing about their mother is known.

He’s a huge lover of animals, and his pet dog can be seen featured in many of his Instagram pictures and videos; Mike volunteered at a local animal shelter during his teenage years, and has donated money to several.
