Cooper and his brother Ketner were raised in Yakima by their father Craig Marion Kupp, who’s a former football quarterback, and who competed in NFL with the Dallas Cowboys and the Phoenix Cardinals, and their mother Karin Kupp who’s a housewife. He was named to the All-Big Sky Conference First-team again in 2014 and 2015, and upon graduating in 2017, Cooper was selected by the Los Angeles Rams as the 69th overall pick from the National Fooball League (NFL) draft; he signed a four-year $4 million contract on 9 June, with close to $1 million signing bonus. His debut was the Rams’ 46-9 win over the Indianapolis Colts, and he was then named to the 2017 All-Rookie Team.

Cooper became the Rams’ starting wide receiver in 2018, but then suffered an injury in a game against the Seattle Seahawks, tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and thus having to be benched for the remainder of the season; the Rams still reached Super Bowl LIII, losing to the New England Patriots 13-3.

Cooper ended the 2019 season with 10 touchdowns, 94 receptions and 1,161 reception yards, and was ranked #89 on the Top 100 NFL Players list of 2020. On 12 September 2020, he signed a new three-year contract with the Rams worth $48 million, but spent part of the season benched because of the coronavirus.

In both October and November 2021, Cooper was named NFC Offensive Player of the Month, and the Rams went on to defeat the San Francisco 49ers 20-17 at the NFC Championship Game; Cooper ranked #4 on the list NFL Top 100 Players of 2022.

He signed a new three-year $80 million contract with the Rams on 9 June 2022, and most recently, on 15 November 2022 Cooper was placed on injured reserve after suffering a high ankle sprain during a game against the Arizona Cardinals, which the Rams lost 27-17.
